What would be a good brand/size in amps, alternator for my 1965 Belvedere with electric fan, electric fuel pump, nothing else special (stock radio, lights etc)?
What would be a good choice electronic style 1965 style voltage regulator? I was thinking a 75 amp power master and an auto zone VR706 electronic regulator. All new under dash wiring, engine wiring etc...no brittle wiring. The car is a 493"/TF and dana rear. Any suggestions??? Thanks

I have used the Power Master 75 amp alternator in my 65 Coronet since 2000. I have an electric fuel pump, water pump and fan. Never had an issue of it not keeping charged. Heck I even use an under drive crank pulley.

Thanks

I appreciate the reply. I think I will go with the Power master 75 amp and a solid state voltage regulator.

If you're not concerned with keeping things stock, I recommend the Tuff Stuff alternators with a 1 wire hook-up. Does away with the V/R. They offer them from 70 to 200 amps. I used the 100 amp in a black powdercoat finish. Uses stock mounts and works/looks great. Got mine from Summitracing.com

Coloradodave, thanks for posting to my question. I am kinda on the fence about one wire vs original style. A friend of mine has the same car as you with a 528" wedge (6 pak). Great looking car you have there.

Have the same alternator black as well, I really like the one wire setup (cleaner and less connections to worry about). Also bought from Summit.

The VR706 is what ClassicIndustries sells too - working fine even with original wiring yet in my '62 along with the AutoZone lifetime warranty Duralast alternator and Gates belts.

Ignition timing on #6 cylinder like on my 9/66 ('67) LA 318 with the same front cover water pump and ballancer ?

just don't run your factory amp gauge, it will fry the wires pretty quickly.
