The alternator that came with this car a 70 RR is a chrome 70 amp from Tuff Stuff, which is not charging. It has 2 field terminals one with a green wire and the other has two wires on it,and the battery terminal. I figure I'll get this one rebuilt and run a stock rebuilt one for the time being. The rebuilt one has the battery terminal and 1 field and 1 ground terminal. Would I hook the green wire to the field and leave the other wires that where on the other field termainal wrapped and not connected? Also what wire if any would go to the ground then?

I just go to my local NAPA parts store and tell them I have a 70 Challenger with a 440 in it. I get a Square back two field 80 amp alternator. if you have an electronic voltage regulator you should be using bolt field wires.

See 70 and later charging diagram
