I recently removed the anodizing from the grill and all the aluminum trim on my '66 Belvedere. Did all the necessary repairs, sanded and polished. Then started to look for a company to anodize the parts, at a reasonable cost (good luck). In my search I came across an interesting article -

which lead me to this company -

There are many good opinions on FBBO regarding this issue. This is just some additional information.

I removed all of the old anodizing from mine and Put Eastwood Exo Armor on it. Been holding up fine since 2014

Thing is, if you Brite dip anodize your trim what you currently see as "polished" may not be as polished as you think.. The chemicals will cause tiny pits to turn frosty white with spots radiating from them... Guys I've talked to in the trade call it "blooming"... And honestly they prefer to not brite dip trim from the from of a car, side trim & rear trim is less of an issue but stuff off the front tends to get sand blasted by being driven down the highway.. Stuff you can't even see often causes tiny white blooms all over a freshly restored part....

Personally I just use mothers every couple years... If you seal the finish you can't polish it which means minor flaws can't be fixed without stripping the part again...

Seems to be the thought of the people at Iverson. You say your trim stays nice for a couple years. I polished mine 6 months ago, set it on a shelf and had to polish it again now as there was a little cloudiness to it.

I just mind fucked this same issue to death on the trunk panel of my '67 Belvedere. After considering all of the input that I got here on the forum regarding various products that are available; AND the fact that had been really pretty easy to just hit the aluminum astro slots on my R/T with Mothers once a year, I decided to just stick with the bare polished aluminum and hit it with Mothers once a year. For a nice driver, I think it's the way to go.

Your polishing schedule could vary with the weather. We don’t need dehumidifiers out west. I got a whole new appreciation for humidity going to Carlisle, PA in July, WOW!

I had the anodizing stripped and polished. I wax/Detail spray it a lot but looks fine for about 2 years now. Did the trunk panel and wipers also..
This price was pretty fair considering the work done. About $450 for everything. George (GTL Polishing)

PM me if you want his number.

I have my 68 Satty headlight bezels at Cuda Chicks ( Leanna) Was going to get mine anodized , but the only place I could find was Iverson's-Very expensive . Leanna told me she uses a clear paint that is the toughest she has been able to find. I don't remember the name of it, but she is going to polish and clear coat mine. I did have mine clear coated with what you use with base coat paint, but it started peeling off.............MO

I would not put any coating on it. Just polish once a year and your good. Clear Coatings (no matter what) will come off and ruin your day. It can not be reversed easily.
