AMC V8 to T5 bellhousing

Torqueflites used by AMC had the specific AMC bolt pattern bell-housing, and so did the Turbo 400 that AMC used in the Jeep line. The internals are the same as Mopar or GM applications. Similarly, IH torqueflites were machined specifically for that company.
Also, the torque converters are different; AMC had the ring gear on the flex plate.

The bolt patterns on AMC blocks are independent.
AMC utilized components from other
manufacturers to save on engineering and
production costs. Ford Ignitions, GM power
steering pumps, Chrysler and GM transmissions,
GM steering columns, transfer cases, etc.
None of these are directly interchangeable
between makes.
AMC changed up the mounting or installation
of these components to make them specifically
theirs for warranty purposes. Which is where
the money is.
