im in need of replacing my water pump on my '74 satty with a 318 and i am curious what i should use on the bolts when everything
is going back together. Sorry for such a newbie question but everything came apart so easily i was amazed and nothing leaked so
looking for some advise. Thanks for any replys, Jason

Definitely not loctite. Put sealer lile teflon or rtv on bolts that go into cooling system. You could put antiseize on the others if you want to.

ok great thanks, does that go the same for the water pump gasket, maybe a little rtv?

The thing w RTV is most people use WAY TO MUCH.

X2 Big.....a little RTV goes a long way. Just a thin film on each side of the gasket then bolt it on right away and try to let it sit overnight to cure before filling the cooling system. It's probably not an issue with the WP gasket but if you have the time why not let it cure. ARP makes a good thread sealer for bolts that go into water jackets as do other companies.
