I have a 71 Charger Super Bee that was an executive build. Several have posted that this car was given to Chrysler designer John Herlitz in late 1970. I don't know why the designer of the 70 Cuda and 71 RR and GTX would have a Dodge Charger, but was hoping to get any info available. Would be cool if he actually owned the car.

I've also read a quote from him that he absolutely did not like the quarter window area design of the Charger and much preferred the Plymouth version, which he designed.

...and you would think he could A- afford his own car, or B- have a say in selection.

Cool car, though!

I purchased from MI. That owner stated he got if from the neighbor of the person who had it parked in this driveway since 1976. Story goes the executive didn't like it and returned it to the pool. Sold to a dealer and landed in In. Others have told me the car resurfaced in 2017 at a show in Indy (have pictures) after the neighbor rescued it. Title says it was in Whiteland In.

The In title I got was a recent one 2017. No one saved the orig title from 1976 or earlier. Here is a pix when the car first surfaced after the neighbor recused it. This was the Chicago McCann survivor show. Many have heard legends about it sitting. Not sure where it was before 1976, some say NY others Detroit.

you should contact pam and gary of the 71 wing cars site as well.
massive knowledge there too.

a side note to this car,
one very very close to this one was being offered for sale in the back pages of Moperformance mag
years and years ago.
as i recall, the owners name there too was john? and he had 2 of them,1 was identical to yours gunmetal and loaded with the 440-v code
the other i think was a regular r/t 440 auto car.,in blue/black.
he had them listed for the Longest time too,i think he was asking around 16k for the pair.
i think? he actually worked for the magazine and both cars were shown in ny state.
if you have any old moperformance mags go to the for sale ads at the back and scope.
id guesstimate early 2000-s timeframe?

Someone else suggested the 71 wing cars site but all I find is "domain name for sale" Do you have a link?

what's so special about the car, a 71 Charger R/T?
beyond the executive/designer having a brief position of it
& then he returned it

I don't get it,
maybe I need a bit more of the history/story behind it
I don't recall the tale

was the 71 Charger R/T specially built specifically for the guy?
was the car some kind of prize/gift/award?

isn't it just another used car? (not meant as an insult)
was it something special?,
so many stories that get started about stuff

or is this merely informational search, curiosity?
or is there some thinking this is some rare, special car?
adding value?
specific for the designer of the 71 RR & `cuda

just curious, more than anything
