Since it has been too cold here to worry about cars. I thought I would strike up a new topic. I dunno if its the media, or the fact that I have been listening to CBC radio too much lately. But I feel the need to be ready in case of emergency. Especially with winter approaching. I generally try to keep enough gas for the generator for a week, food for a week, and lots of guns lol. Anyone else out there a major prepper? Care to share some ideas?

I am starting to stock some can goods. We dont get much snow usually but it wouldnt hurt to have some food in case we cant get to the store

I wouldn't necessarily call myself a prepper- but I try to be prepared to take care of my family in an emergency. I always have flashlights and plenty of batteries; in an easy to access location if lights are out. We have a generator with a fair amount of stabilized fuel. We have a well, so water should be ok as long as we have a generator. We have a stash of food and bottled water. I think the biggest preparation we have made is our backup planning- if a situation arrises, my wife and I know where we will meet, who will pickup our daughter is she's in daycare, etc. If there is no cell service or power we both know what we need to do.
I am definitely stocked up with firearms and ammo. I practice with each weapon regularly and I keep them ready to rock and roll....if these things I listed make me a 'prepper', then so be it.

Ya that sounds similar to me. I Just keep enough things to get by on the short term. I also live in the country so water is plentiful. Just keep gas to run the generator for the necessities. Luckily the deep freeze will keep frozen all winter no worries on that aspect. If I had the money and the time, I would bury a storage/ shipping container. I think that is so cool. I would keep it stocked full of beer and liquor lol

Long range forecast for the southeast this season is colder and frozer than usual. Seein as how we don't have major snow fightin equipment this far south, we've kinda been buyin a few extra groceries here and there. Got stabilized gas in the generator.

Along other lines I've noticed something. I'm a big military truck fan. Done restorations and owned quite a few. Been lookin for an M35 of some kind. Since all this talk of 12/21/2012, military type "bugout" vehicles have literally tripled in price.

Propwash lots of guns definitely count, you could always shoot an animal if it was life or death. I just bought a SKS this week actually. Rusty a good 4x4 off road vehicle is a good idea too. If the roads were unplowed or washed out you could still travel. I like those deuce and a half trucks. I think that's what they were called. They are the 6x6 ones that can run on multiple kinds of fuel.

Yup, that's them. White 465 LTD milti fuel engine. Runs on ANY kinda petroleum as long as it's liquid at room temperature.

I'm not a prepper by the t.v. show standard but i do know how to skin wildlife. Have my 4 wheel drive and my p/u. This shoulder injury that put me out of commision for awhile is a blessing in disquise. When/if that big day does arrive in december then i will be with the wife so we can work out the situation together.

I think I have a can of tuna and some water. Geez, sounds like I better kick it up a notch and pay some attention to the rest of yooz guys.

We've got a Go bag, 50-day supply of food, and the law firm of Mossberg, Savage, Ruger & Colt on retainer to maintain the peace. Just following Homeland Security advice. :D

12/21/12 is gonna be such a boring day....

I threw all my guns into the Gulf of Mexico on my last fishing trip!! :D Seriously tho, if you live anywhere near a big city, you had better be well prepared to move to a better area (to da sticks) when the signs start showing up and I think we've had our first sign with this re-election. This country is going down hill fast imo and that's all I can say about the subject in this forum.

If an emergency came up right now, and we were all stuck in the house with no power or anything. I bet my family could last a couple months on what we have around. But I am always looking for more food storage, and I've been thinking about installing a wood burning stove in the house as well.

We already live in the sticks and have all the standard supplies and equipment to last quite a while. Most recently, we added a large supply of Twinkies. We're ready.......

doomsdayers are funny though.. been around since time began but yet we are still here.
I think doomsdaying is like Valantines day and a few other holidays invented for retail purposes. Only there to serve the capitalism gods.

If I dont buy a Roadrunner i am looking at this :

Thats a sweet AK, too bad we can't have them up here. Closest we can get is an SKS with a 5 round limit.

Its a Saiga 12, I just sold my SKS and need a replacement...LOL
