any problem with mounting the ignition coil on the inside of the fire wall?

Thinking about mounting the coil by the drivers side of the brake pedal brackets.... or somewhere vertically running the wires through a gromit.... on a small block '67 car.
 
don't see why not, it would help keep it cool and away from engine heat.
 
If this is a small block maybe otherwise that's a long way from the distributor on a big block
 
do that in my race car.just make sure you run a good quality wire and your fine.
 
Probably fine but I might consider not having 40 KV next to my foot at all times. What's wrong with the firewall?
 
Thats where i have mine, of course its a big block 6AL system, so different beast all together.
 
It's not a problem I've done it on several of my cars to clean up the engine bay.
 
I'm thinking of getting it set up under there somewhere... probably left of the brake pedal assembly I'm using MSD 8.5 wire I will run the ballast on the usual spot. I'm in the process of running wires and grubbing out the entire harness... somewhere a bank of relays is going also... I leave the wires long once I know the whereabouts of the components then I will run out every wire with out any splicing or connection once I get a bundle I run the slack out and wrap with friction tape 3layers and 2layers of the super 77 tape then in a loom on the connections I like to leave some slack in case I need to 're do or shorten a splice once I have positioned the eye or the plug-in in its most comfortable position I will crimp and then use heat shrink I use a dab of dielectric grease on the contacts and use brass washers on both sides of the eyes and dielectric grease between the washer and the bare shiny metal around the blot or post for the grounds... in places I will use a bolt through the body and a nut and lock washer made of brass for a ground it makes it easier to add another ring with out compromise the contact... you have to allow the ground a sufficient path back to the battery... I'm a fan of fat wires all around and relays keeping the original style harness as actuators for the new system... it's a lot of wire...
