Any tile guys out there?

About time you showed up Bob. I agree.
I'm no pro but have laid my share of tile. Ditra is the way to go.
A little different to work with but will float enough to not transfer the crack to the tile.
It's kind of like laying tile on a bed of sand.

What no use of epoxy concrete crack repair. Will bond better than concrete itself and great for hair line cracks. Now if the concrete has separated and is out of alignment, the problem was not the concrete but the prep. No amount of de-bonding will fix shoddy concrete work.
From the description of the crack. Healer sealer and lay tile. But I am not a tile expert ether but do know a bit about concrete repair after some 30 years in the business.

Here's the first section I'll be doing. I've been going over the basement with a level, chiseling up around the cracks, assessing things.. errr! If I wasn't married I'd jack hammer the whole damn floor up but she would absolutely kill me, really disgusted with it! Crazy how you can walk on it for 16 years and feel as if it's a pretty decent floor.. I've got a plan and I'll take the advice and put down the Ditra, I'll just buy it one room at a time lol.

Those cracks don't appear that severe to me from the pictures. I laid slate in my basement 9 years ago over some about that size and just put the mesh tape over them before the thin-set straight to the concrete. I haven't had a bit of trouble.
Maybe a natural product resists it more than porcelain or ceramic.
