Any value in these 65 wagons?

My take ? It's not the value factor, it's the fun factor. And that sure looks like fun ! A little TLC and some pop under the hood.... bingo !
I agree, it is the fun that has to be measured. But when the OP asks a value they usually want a $ guess!
We can all keep up with the $ spent on our projects, but since few of our builds do more than maybe break even if sold, it is the fun part we have to calculate!! Smiles per mile!!! Grins per gallon!

Do it. Drop an AMC 360/727 in it. Some of the suspension wear items may be tough to get but the car looks solid. Buff it out and drive!

Just my opinion... building that would be a labor of love. You probably won’t get half you put into it.

If you like a Unique Ride, I'm sure you would be the Only One at Most Shows & Cruises...

My wife just got this. California car.

My neighbor stopped by and asked if I could help him with a 65 rambler rogue he has had in storage for 30 years. He must have parked it with a half tank of gas but after I cleaned out the fuel system / fluids /4 new tires etc the thing fired right up. I drove it around a little not a bad car. The interior is really nice probably deluxe, lots of chrome and a floor shifter.

Ship that rascal down here. I'll take care of her. That's a noble beast and deserves it.

Thanks all! He did send some pics of the underside and it looked fairly solid as well, hopefully I can get a look at it soon. It's a few hours away but that's no biggie.

A lot of people fear AMC products because they think the parts are non existent....

To some, mopar parts are hens teeth because they are not looking in the right places or know the right people.

Same is true for AMC, parts are out there, just have to know the right people and know which hiding places to look.

I have a valiant wagon and some of the parts have been really challenging but they are out there.

I have a ‘68 Satellite wagon. I searched for over 10 years and never found a tailgate that wasn’t rusted thru at the bottom. The car got rear ended and it bent the unibody. I gave up on it... and was offered a fairly clean complete car in pieces last year for $1000. I passed. I did the wagon thing for over 10 years, and will put my money into a 2 door.

Number one is where do you get part's for an AMC car. It is hard enough to get parts for these old Mopar's. But you could do a lot with the motor and drive train like replace it all under the car. But just think would get something parts where more available for.

You gotta know a guy

Price seems fair if it's solid. AMC Ramblers tend to rust in the cowl where you can't see it unless you know where to look. I bought a 65 Rambler Classic 660 wagon a little over a year ago and am doing some fairly extensive cowl rust repair. Values on these Ramblers will probably never get crazy but my rambler wagon gets way more attention than my 70 Charger. Regarding parts, you can get most of the mechanical parts but interior and body parts are harder to come by - I am fabricating most repair panels myself since most aren't available.

If you have any questions about specifics, feel free to PM me if you'd like. I'm only a year into mine but definitely have been doing my research on these cars and have the TSM for the classics, which share a lot of parts with the Americans.

....but my rambler wagon gets way more attention than my 70 Charger...

It’s the weirdest/coolest thing. I’ve got 2 wagons, ‘65 Galaxie and ‘65 Coronet and they generate WAY more attention in the parking lot than my trailer queen. Everyone’s always saying “hey I rode in the back of that when I was a kid...”, etc, etc.

I was at AutoZone today talking cars, politics etc with the manager. The subject came up about some buying a warehouse full of new AMC parts when they went under. So, like they said above, parts are out there. Maybe join an AMC forum to find them.

Life is funny. Back in the 80's, 90's when I first got into the Mopar "hobby", I had all the "desirable models, hemis, 6 pacs, BB As, AARs, and a pile of just ole 383 RR Bees, Chargers, Challengers, etc. They just don't excite me enough to want the $$$$ invested in such.
So for the last 10-15 years I have built bunch of slant early As, SB Dusters, even had a few F bodies. Now I have a 62 Lancer becasue the wife claims it, a 62 and a 64 Body, BUT they are MORE doors, one is a poly 318 an he other is a slant, might remain such who knows. I am finishing the paint work on a 64 Savoy. It will likely get sold. Just not that excited about building it, putting all that $i$$ in the drivetrain, did such back in the 90s, a slant to 440 4 speed.
So what has this all to do with anyone building an AMC wagon!? Just because it make more $ sense to build something else, this hobby is not really about $ it is about the fun the joy were receive from our rides however it may be.
Be it is just tooling down the road,or conversations at a show or cruise in, or the satisfaction of bring an old car back from the dead, whatever it may be.
OK so I am yapping here killing time waiting for the conditions to be right to start paint!
