Anyone Adapt a Flip Up Gas Cap to Wagon?

Had a flip-top gas cap on my 67 Belvedere . . . but I've changed it out - so I have almost all the parts to convert your car to a flip top ( if that's what you want )

Here's the original body panel . . .

Cut a "newer" flush mounted gas cap off a car at the local pull your own parts car location

And welded it in place . . .

I've got the flip top gas cap / and the body panel cut out from this car if you would like to add it to your car.
( there is one bracket that someone bought from me - but took measurements and drawings to ( maybe ) allow you to create the bracket

And how it looks after most of the bodywork . . .

And with the cover bolted in place

I'm going for a completely different look! but thanks. I'm looking for something like one of those flip top gas caps that might be found on a race car or Shelby cobra or something. I actually want the cap exposed, not hidden. I want it to look similar to original, clean and functional. I'm not trying to hack up my body. I'm actually confused as to why anyone would put that style (your pictures) on one of these vintage cars? no wonder you changed it back!

what kind of gas cap did you use and how did you go about it? was it simple. what kind of modifications did u have to make?
Just got a 69-70 Charger cap for my 69 Sport Satellite SW.
Looks like it will work with a spacer to keep it proud of the body, other wise the catch rubs on the body.

I've decided I want a more custom look for this one. something like this

A little late to this post. I just used a '67 GTX flip top gas cap on my '67 belvedere sedan. I even used the bezel bolted up with no problem.

Many issues will not work without major mods. Moved on.
