Anyone found their original motor and/or trans???

Just curious...has anyone found the original motor and/or trans to their car after buying it? If so, how did you find it...posting on a forum, looking for previous owners, etc?

My car does not have the original motor/trans and I would love to reunite it with the originals if they are still out there somewhere but I know it's a long shot!

A friend of mine found his original block 5 years after he restored his car. He did an owner search/research and found the guy. Long block was sitting under a bench in the garage.

I found mine its under the hood,original trans part with the numbers was bad, the guy I bought it from tried to give it to me but I thought it was scrap alluminum and left it with him.
