I need a short bolt for the rocker assembly, pulled mine apart today and the threads are all rounded off.....don't need the hold down just the shoulder bolt.

The rocker shaft bolt? You can go to the hardware store and get a grade 5 3/8-16 bolt that is not threaded all the way up. I've done just that with no problems. Just make sure the non threaded part doesn't bottom out. Torque to 35 ft lbs if I remember correctly.

It will probably take 35 ft-lbs without breaking, but the book calls for 25 ft-lbs on the big block rocker shaft bolts. With the grade 5, I'd stick with 25 ft-lbs to be safe.

Uh oh, memory is failing me! Grade 8 3/8-16 is 35 ft lbs. (with oil).
