anyone have auto claims adjustor experience/history...possible total loss

While I was stationed in SC I would hit on average, 4 deer a year. I drove a 1998 Buick Century and it looked like a Taxi from Rio or some third world country. But it ran well and SC has no inspections so I just repaired it and kept hitting deer.

Glad everyone's OK. I'd recommend getting the vehicle inspected at A GOOD QUALITY BODY SHOP, not in your driveway. Avoid getting low-balled up front, then getting jerked around afterward. You may "think" your insurance company is good... until you get screwed. If it's repairable, at least know the job will get done correctly. There's a lot of butcher shops in NJ ! Beware, and good luck.

Unfortunately I've had more experience than I'd like w body shops the last few yrs. my friend runs a shop locally that's a DRP for my insurance company

Glad to read it's not the RR
& everyone is OK,
the DD can be replaced, dime a dozen

I hope you fair well with the insurance too...

You'd be surprised how fast all the stuff dads up
especially with $75-$100+/hr shop labor rates...

get more than one estimate &
you can chose who does the repairs,
that may aide to & determine costs too

good luck

Beware of using a direct repair shop, they're under contract to fix your car as cheap as possible.
