What kind of mileage do you get with the GV and normal highway driving empty?

Mileage has always sucked. Still does with the Gear vendor. When I added the Gear Vendor, I changed from 3.21 open rear to 3.55 sure grip. Mileage went from 10 mpg to maybe 12 at times. I never did haul much weight with it over the years. It was mostly my commuter vehicle from new to the early 90's when gas prices forced me to start driving my 89 Dynasty to work. It was getting pretty rusty and pushing 500,000 miles on the clock. I started buying up parts for the resto and finally did the upgrades and new parts in 2012. Have not driven much since then.

My grandpa bought a 79 2wd 318 regular cab longbed new which got handed down to my dad. I loved driving it. In 2008 my dad junked it cause of frame rot. He later bought an 80 model club cab 4wd which he restored. Shortly after the restoration my nephew totaled it.

reason i created this thread,im looking at buying a 78 2wd longbed.
318 2bbll,727 trans,unsure of rear looks like the bigger 9-1/4?
body is in Vgc and has 2 packages,the Adventurer and the Prospector.
truck is loaded for its gen,cruise tilt deluxe interior and so forth.
heavy duty radiator,a/c,power brakes,bright trim and grillwork.
guy wants a grand for it,bad transmission and some rust on bed fender edges.
92k original miles.

any opinions?

I have quite a few in my collection. 85 w350, 81 d150, 92 d350. They all have Cummins i swapped in. Except the d350 is factory cummins. And i have one lonely 93 w150 with a 5.2l magnum

Still have my 74 W100. 360 ci., 4 bbl, 4 speed, 4 x 4 short bed, Dana 44 up front, 8 3/4 out back. Not a day goes by that I don't get offers to buy it. Thing is a stump puller in low-low... Don't make them like that anymore. I still like driving it and drive at least twice a week but my 2013 Tradesman Express is pretty sweet to drive, the ride between the two is night and day.

(95 & 98 4x4's Power Ram 2500/3500 Cummins 12 valves, 99 Dakota 4x4),
77-79 Ramchargers or Traildusters too
I haven't had an older real Power Wagons, since about 1995-ish
pretty much always had a 4x4 Dodge of some sort

been thinking of getting a 68-70 D-100 short-bed 2wd
& do a "Dude" tribute, gen 3 crate hemi 5 speed
& sort of pro-touring vibe, with a late 60's flare/stylings

I've had a few of the 73-79 body style. It's surprising how much roomier the single cab is compared to the Chevy or Fords of the same era. My favorite was a 1978 single cab, short bed factory 440 automatic. Not especially fast, but it had an open rear that would do the "one wheel peel" for as long as you cared to keep your foot in it. Fun truck!

When I worked at MODoT I drove a 75 D200 (300?)
reg cab 360 auto 16.5" 8nlug split rims and 4.10 Dana out back. That thing would haul the mail...and a lot of it.
