Anyone know how to increase the CFM on Edelbrock Carbs?

is there something in the Assoc. rules of certain events you want to run,
that you have to run the Weber/Carter Clone/Edelbrock carbs ? for some reason or other...

Yes and I want 8's in the heat with Edelbrocks. I know there's got to be a way to get these carbs to flow more. Dale Cubic found a way.

I watched this Hemi Road Runner run 8.60's in September in Norwalk. 2 Eddys on a 605" Hemi. Car is a legal NHRA S/S, not the motor

I wonder who's carbs he was running and what mods were made to them because if they were stock out of box Eddy's I have one hell of a turd for a engine.
Even Bob@MCH said my carbs are like corks for this new combo. Next place to look is the stock intake manifold. Bob wants his hands on it ASAP.

When I walked up the intake was covered with a towel. I had just seen the car go 8.6X. You can imagine my surprise when he lifted the towel and I saw they weren't some type of Holleys. He said they were out of the box. Hell they still had the chokes in them.

The car had to be a potato chip, no way you going 8.60's with stock Edelbrocks. I have talked to every carb guy in the last week regarding CFM and they all say you are limited with these carbs in terms of ET & MPH.
OOTB Edelbrocks according to a very reputable head porter and engine builder said that OOTB Edelbrocks only flow 685 cfm.

Maybe you could use what this guy is using!

It's hard to tell who's driving it but it's your car! Lol. Those 90/10's are getting a workout...

685cfm for what Edelbrock carb?
Any info on the other Edelbrock carbs?

I don't think so. Still has the stock steel hood, bumpers, hood hinges, Roll up glass, stock style front suspension, ETC. If It's light it's really well hidden. Fooled me.

expect about 100cfm per square inch of venturii area for the afb's. holleys aren't really a great deal better. the newer holley hp stuff is grossly over rated. most of the early numbers are reasonable. keep in mind that cfm numbers are moving targets. change the pressure drop on ratings and flow changes. thats why i still embrace venturii area and throttle bore size, they're fixed.

685cfm for the Edelbrock Thunder series 800 1412 carb.
The modified set I got my eye on flow 1023 cfm.
Highly modified with what I have been told.

Everything you said was correct, modifying the 800 edelbrock. Bore size opened up and newly designed butterfly's that are custom made.Adjustble air bleeds, and the bores are oval shaped. Should be getting them next week.
They aren't cheap.

you get those babies and show us some pics. btw, that 685 number seems a little low to me. do you know if thats a wet flow number?

Yea, a 115 down from the advertised rating? Wow! Wet or dry is a good question and "who" flowed them on what and how did Edelbrock get there rating?

i'm thinking wet flow is about a 10% reduction from dry flow, but i'm sure there's variables. cfm ratings have become just a marketing ploy. i wish folks would learn to take them as grain of salt. the carb cfm calculators for engines don't do the guy who's trying squeeze every ounce of performance from his engine any favors.

I agree about the marketing ply too. I'll bet that a 750 and a 800 edelbrock flow almost exactly the same
