race pak

SSR it looks like only you can afford to run one...LOL... sorry dude, I couldn't resist.... You probably already know allot of what I'm going to say but... I ran a Race Pak years ago, not the same model at all, probably not as good either,I had all the sensors, rpm, ignition, flying magnet or MSD mags, exhaust/air fuel/O2, trans temp, oil temp/pressure, vacuum, water temp, fuel flow, rear wheel speed, drive-shaft speed etc., but we also had to use a Stand alone Laptop with their Race Pak programing, then download data after each run & I don't have any of that stuff anymore, let alone remember what was done,my race partner Rob C. did most that stuff, I had my hands full with the car, chutes, clutch tuning etc. to waste time on the computer, he was a much better computer person & much more patient at it than I was too, it's just a tunning aid, to show what was the results of the last changes & comparing them with previous changes & set-ups & nothing more, nothing less, they all went with my old faster race-cars, when I sold them back around 1997 or so, I really have no need for that stuff any longer, the faster cars yes it was a helpful tool, but unless you know what your actually looking at, they don't help much, having a weather station & know how to use it, being able to read your plugs properly, a good accurate air/fuel ratio & pressure gauge, a good tattle tell tach, a good leak down tester & do a leak down test "after each run" to keep on-top of the engine, run the valve lash & look over the valve-train, an O-Berg filter you can take apart & look to see whats going thru you oiling system & metallic particles/debris left behind etc., it will save you a ton of cash in the long run... Also I would highly suggest you run a stand alone battery, just for the race pak & run all your electronics thru Relays, to keep spikes down, ignition interferences & have better battery life too, constant consistent voltage, that will also help tremendously... Usually the Race Pak 1-800 #/tech service will give you a starter parameters to begin with, also try Mad Enterprises @ www.MADELECTRICAL.com for all your electrical needs, connectors, wires, waterproof bulkheads, etc., they are great & very knowledgeable electronics guys too....

scroll down, post got pushed down

it looks like mother nature got me with my pants down. i need to get the hemi in the garage to wire it up.
now the driveway is icey and cant load up the blue dodge into the trailer to put the motor in.
Just ordered another racepak setup for the dodge. This one is getting the v300sd.hopefully this cold and snow breaks and we get a thawing period.

we finally got some sunshine today a big strom is coming east from out here, not sure if it will get to you or not... Good luck, have fun with all the ice & snow dude...LOL...

Looks like 55 degrees here today so the Racepak is going to go in. I ll have pics later to show installation. Roll mount bracket is going to be moved for easier accessibility to the SD Card. All sensors are going in. I will have to get a few 1/8" tees to tie in the gauges as well to the v net sensors.
I also have to get a bracket made up for the UDX Dash.

I think this looks sweet. What do you think?

looks good. i'm thinking about taking the gauges out of my car and installing the racepak dash in it. i need to buy some more sensors for my setup.

Looks good SSR...

got all my sensors mounted and wired under the dash, new roll bar mount is in,now i need 2 extra v net cables to tie everything in.
2 cables = $125.00
i just got to get the 12 volt lead and ground done and put o2 sensors in the bungs. What a dreary nasty day, no sun and they said 50 degrees. My ***,it felt like 35.

it's acold bitch here too, hasn't gotten' above freezen', for like a freaken' week almost now, we usually get allot better/warmer whether & temperature than that, even this time of year... good luck your 1st test

Got my 144" extention cable and everything wlll be tied in today.
Only thing that will be left is the driveshaft mounting bracket for the sensor.

Well at this point what do you think of the system?I know you haven't had the chance to run it yet.Just your thoughts on the setup and install likes and dislikes.

So far, it is a very nice straightforward installation. A few things like the driveshaft sensor gray wire which has 3 colored wires seems to be pretty easy to assemble. I have to make a bracket to come off the Dana 60 case. Drill and tap 2 1/4 holes to mount it and then I need to align sensor to magnet.
I had just enough cord to reach the O2 bung on passenger side.
144" extention cable was perfect in length. I mounted the sportman logger behind my passenger seat and ran extention wire and main harness was routed right next to the extention cable all wire tied together neatly under the rug by the passenger side sill panel.
Driveshaft wire fit perfectly inthe body plug behind the rear passsenger seat area,
I mounted the start record button right under my headlight switch on dash.
Also going to have the racepak record automatically at a certain rpm probably at 6400 rpm.
The dual O2 sensors also needed to be wired to switched 12 volt and grounded to chassis in order for the sensors to warm up prior to recording.
Im going to tie all 12 volt and grounds together tomorrow.
I believe after that I'll need to configure software then Ill try and start the car and see everything working on the UDX Dash.
Pretty exciting.
I removed my Altronics O2 alert from the car, and I'm going to weather pack connect the remaining wires.

Got the driveshaft collar on and ran the gray wire to the sensor and made up the sensor bracket, now i just need to mount the bracket. All electric is done as soon as i mount the driveshaft sensor i'll fire it up and see how the UDX dash looks lit up and functioning.
What I really like is the fact that you can see everything in real time right in front of your face.
