Hi everyone!

I have been pining for a Mopar since selling (stupidly selling) my '64 Dart GT last summer. I'd kind of like a B-body and saw this '66 Belvy sedan (ok, i like four-doors) that doesn't seem to be in bad shape. Has anyone seen this one? I'm coming from Detroit. The dealership told me its a no-rust, great runner. They did not know if it has ever had filler/bondo (a likely admission that it does is "I don't know," imho).

Also, anyone know what seat swap would work with a '66 Belvy bench? I wanna get some head rest seats.

Thanks for any and all opinions.

Brian

Thx, Graver. I edited my post to include the CL link. But you were on the spot anyway.

since i am in Pittsburgh i was going to offer to go and look at it for you but dgraver beat me to the punch and has already seen it ! looks to be in nice shape!

The floor pans are the same from 66-70, so any bench from the dodge or plymouth b body line should interchange. If you find a 2 door bench, the seat tracks are a little different. I've heard the 4 door car seats sit more upright than the 2 door seats (probably to give more rear seat legroom. Also the 4 door seats won't recline.

I bought a clean rust free running 318 auto, AC 67 4 door belvedere in Georgia a little more than a year ago for $2000 that I drove 60 miles to get back to my in laws house. While I was down there looking, I saw another one sell for the same price off of CL that was my car's near twin except it had a 6 cyl, 3 on the tree, and it went for $2500. In my opinion the price they are asking for the one you are look at is a little steep.

It's been there since the summer, I've been tempted but I don't have anywhere to put it right now. I've looked at it but I haven't crawled underneath, looked at the trunk pan, or check for bondo. However, it really does look like a nice solid survivor.

Also, since it's been there for at least 8 months I'm sure you could get it for less than the 3995 he's asking.

Tpodwdog, am I going to see your plum crazy beast around Pittsburgh this spring/summer?

I'm right in the city, but will soon be moving to the north hills, directly across the street from "the starlite car cruise" which is just awesome. If you haven't been, make sure you make it! Every fri night, largest weekly show east of Chicago with over 2000 cars each cruise. Look at www.carcruises.com and use it as your roadmap, I've already begun looking ahead!

Sorry about jacking your thread, let me or tpodwdog know if you need someone to take a better look at the belvy.

Graver or Tpod, if either of ya gets a chance, could you take a closer look? Main thing I'm after is a rust-free, no accident body (to squire around my old, rusty, accident-prone body).

Thanx for even considering it! I have an aunt in Mt. Pleasant I'm overdue to visit, so I might be able to swoop in early next week. I'm craving that Belvedere and its little slant six.

Yes I can. Anything in particular you want me to look for? I'll look for bondo and look underneath as much as I can and take some pics I can send to you. If they are there when I go look I'll check out the trunk and have them start her up.

Wow! Thanks!!

Just checking for rust/bondo is great, though I wouldn't mind hearing your impressions of how it sounds on a cold start and whether the tranny clunks or hesitates overmuch.

Sales guy told me it was a clean title and that they wouldn't mind my taking it to a local shop for a PPI.

I am in the Detroit area, if I can ever return the favor for you, just let me know (though not too many survivors prowl around these salty parts). I doubtless don't have your assessment ability, being an 'umble nurse, but I know to take a teeny magnet and a paper towel.

be glad to DOC.....hey dgraver,,,,gimmee a call...well go look at it for the doc here !

****UPDATE******.. dgraver and I are going to look at the belvy TONIGHT. i have camera and will be taking pix for ya!

Hey, you have an aunt in Mt. Pleasant. That is where I'm from and my parents still live there. Small world. By the way, the four door cars aren't that hard to find. Actually there is a 67 on craigslist I think in the Seattle area. It is a survivor and a 383 car which is kind of cool. Jamey

ok kids,,,heres the lowdown on that belvedere......BUY IT ! clean....absolutely NO rust that we could see ( didnt have keys to get in trunk or inside) the owner had them on him and he wasnt there....ANYWAYYYYYYYYY.... its been in Pittsburgh its whole life i think. it had an old style pot metal emblem from wilkinsburgh pa. (B&W Motors)...not far from where the car is now. I think some dude bought it in '66....took great care of it, got old. died , and his kids sold it...THATS HOW CLEAN IT IS! the paint will buff out and thats no lie! under carriage is covered in grease ( preservative). tires wear perfectly. it still has the original pentastar on the right fender. UNBELIEVABLE !

Totally agree. No rust or bondo, original fender tag (although theres not much on it), even the rockers are mint without even a hint of rust and that's unheard of for a 46 year old western pa car. We talked to the lady working there and she said they've had it at auction but it didn't sell. Interior in good shape, seats a little faded and needs new armrest pads upfront but that's it. Guarantee the only time this car wasn't garaged is now while it's on this car lot! I'll go back tomorrow or sat and hear her run, etc. As tpod said, buy it!

Yep, the gold one was the one I was thinking of. Shipping hurts some, but let them sit on the car a while and maybe you could negotiate a better price. It's a pretty neat car.
