Anyone use Eaton Performance Detroit Truetrac diff?

The shim over the crush collar has no effect on wear, using either style the gears and bearings will always see wear.

Either way they are both ways of applying the correct bearing pre-load

true trac diff

Got mine back today, True Trac with 3.55 gear. also upgraded the collapsible spacer to a billet steel one that is shimmed so no preload on it. Probably overkill for my 340 street motor, but hey, it should never wear out!

Where'd you get yours? I'm looking for a good place to get one set up in my 489 as well. Are you happy with it? How much did you pay?

Thanks,

Joe

I just got a 489 case with 3.55 gears and the Truetrac installed last week. It seems to be bullet-proof, but I have less than ten miles driven on it. Too cold this week in Pittsburgh. It actually started snowing while I was cutting the grass and while I was running. Too cold for late April. I got the parts from Moser Engineering and I would not hesitate to go to them for future builds.

I bought a complete 489 third member Eaton Tru Trac 3:55's from Dr. Diff

Highly recommend dealing with Cass (Dr. Diff) for the complete unit or the parts for the swap and advice. He's an awesome guy to deal with and prices are competitive or better

As the Ramman is the Mopar brake expert, Doctor Diff is the expert on differential units. Good guy and good work ethic.

I have been running a Detroit Locker in my street/strip 63 for about 5 years with no problems at all. Its not as noisey as some say in fact 90% of the time I dont even realize I have a Detroit Locker in it. All I have a litle clunk now and then but its no big deal to me. Now I have never run the True Trac but I hear alot of good about it so I have 2 questions for those who have run them. One is what is the cost compared to the Detroit Locker ? And do they hold up good in a race car ? My Detroti Locker holds up great in my 10.70 car and I was wondering how the True Tracs hold up in cars that get raced ? Thanks , Ron
