I had to cut the lines next to the transmission in my 65 Coronet when I pulled the trans. They wouldn't break loose. A local place says they can crimp a rubber hose and end onto the line. I'm not sure if I want to go that way. Hose is going to cost $8 a foot plus the fitting and $10-$15 labor to do it. I'm thinking of using the braided metal flexible lines to connect the transmission and the cooler in the radiator. What brand has anyone else used? Thanks!

If you are using flexible hose for your trans cooler you should probably use hose that is specifically for trans/ power steering fluid. My trans guy tells me that regular fuel hose will eventually soften and fail from being exposed to trans fluid. There's usually not a lot of pressure (20 psi or so) so that's not a problem. I've been using flex line on my car for a long time without problems. Just make sure it's routed away from heat and sharp stuff. Most part stores carry trans/power steering specific flex line.

You can use a compression coupling or the flex hose
If you use the flex hose I would do the first part of a double flare to put bump in line to hold rubber hose with a clamp

Splice the steel line back together with a compression fitting. Trans cooler pressure is low. Or get a bender and bend your old, pretty easy.

I got the an fittings for the transmission, then connected -6an hose up front to the cooler.
