Asking opinions of the value of this 69 Road Runner.

I asked asked him if he’d get rid of his correct color B5 4-speed GTX and he reclined. It has the numbers matching motor but not the original 4 speed but it is a date corrected GTX 18 spline. That’s the one he wanted to keep. It’s absolutely beautiful. I took these pics probably 10 years ago.

That's a nice car. For comparison, my fifth GTX, completely numbers matching A33 car, was bid to 81K at the GAA auction last spring. Currently offered at 89K by Volo museum. It's not as nice as Road Runner you're looking at, but the color and four speed jack up the price.

I don’t know a lot about these Road Runners and Plymouths. I’ve had my Charger for around 20 years but this Road Runner does have the air grabber hood set up.

Just talked to the owner and let him know what time I was calling down. I didn’t know it but he told me he found the original transmission. The guys son Called him a few years ago and found the transmission in the barn under a pile of tobacco sticks lol.

Pricing gets interesting on the Plymouths because of the ranges in trim and options, from bare bones to upscale buckets on the '69 models. The air grabber is a highly sought after option, I've seen it add 5% or more in some price guides. And hard to find in excellent working condition. I had one back in the day, and had to replace every vacuum switch in the mechanism. My first GTX, 1970 model with the scoop, it was a crowd pleaser. Column auto, heavily optioned. Sold it for more than I paid for it after four years of daily driving. Two owner, original paint car.

I’m with for the most part what the rest of the guys are saying - no sense repeating. I was going to say $55k - then I read your post #17 whereby you thought he was going to ask $60k. If that’s the case I’d do a friendly arm around the shoulder and suggest the $55k. If he balks write him the check.

Not to be picky at all because it hasn’t any bearing on anything - but in your OP you say “Triple Black” - To me that’s always meant a black vinyl top or a black ragtop to go along w/the blackbody color and interior. Is that not so?

Love what I can see and your post info. Nice car.

What would the car appraise at for insurance replacement or do they just go by what you paid as far as a 'collector' car goes (I've never had collector car insurance for anything)?? I like black and hate white especially when the interior is white. Imo, if y'all like it and money isn't an issue....go for it. You only live once and if you don't buy it, you will probably be kicking yourself for some time to come.

I'm insured with State Farm/Hagerty (merger between the two for collector car coverage). They covered me for $5000 more than I paid for the car, based on agent's pictures and report. She told me I could probably get more if I threw my document collection into the equation, but I was satisfied with their number. And as I posted earlier, I paid high book for the car using their price guide.

You may be exactly right with the triple black but I’ve always heard any 3 things can constitute triple black as long as it’s all black. In this case, interior, paint and the V-21 hood performance paint it has but I could be wrong all this time lol.

This may or not bear on the car's value, but I love it in either the current color scheme, or the factory original colors. First B body I ever sat in was a '69 F6 Green Road Runner at local new car dealer's event in April 1969. I still have the sales brochure I picked up from the pile on the passenger's seat. I've found the "eye candy" factor drives strong pricing, everything else being equal. This car is a heavy hitter in either incarnation.

Once you go black …..
I've had 5 black pickups with two of them being work trucks and even the beater truck looked good after washing and shining things up. The beater was a 79 D300 Adventurer SE Club Cab and once that sucker was cleaned up and the chrome spokes were polished, it looked pretty nice. Even got thumbs up from others and well, what other Dodge truck of the late 70's got that lol. If you go to the Pickup Truck Forum, you'll see my avatar is an early 90's 1 ton dually Club Cab in black dressed out in chrome wheel simulators, pin stripping, and dull aluminum running boards. My 79 had lots of scratches on it but black color wax took care of that.

The car looked just as good as I remembered it. I took a pic of the fender tag but I don’t know where it went on my phone. Everything on the car is like it is on the Fender except for the color change, the code on the fender tag for paint is 99. The car also has the broadcast sheet with it. He did put a scratch on the valve cover when he changed out to a nos thermostat. All in all a great car and my wife loved it. I did get a little jealous when she acted like she liked it better than my Charger lol. We talked about the price, I made an offer. We’ll see what happens. He said let me think about it a few days.

Wow again a beauty. Can you hint at your offer? I’m thinking it’s the $55k….

I hope it works out for you. Maybe you'll get the buddy deal. That's a beautiful ride!

Nice car, Air Grabber is a deal maker, hope you get it. P.S?

If you really like the car, intend on keeping and using it, and are comfortable with the price...what difference does what other people like, matter?
