Hi all,

I wrote this 3 times already, I had a very long text written, but I realized people would get bored, so the short version...

For a while I've been planning to do a drag and drive in the US (I've seen many people from the UK, Sweden, and so on doing that)
I've found a 1965 Satellite for sale (drag car) it is rough, but I personally love it (from what I can see from pics anyway), but the car is in the US, and I'm in Switzerland, but that was the plan anyway, as I want to join one of those drag and drive events in the US.

my original plan in a short:
- buy a car in the US
- drag and drive
- ship the car to Switzerland

Now, yesterday, I found on my local area a 1974 vega roller for sale, with that I would skip the US drag and drive for now, and maybe in the future I would do it. (pics in here: https://www.tutti.ch/de/vi/bern/fahrzeuge/autos/chevrolet-vega-dragster-ohne-motor/65997847)
but it is a chevy :D

what to do ... what to do ....

Sounds like a fun vacation.
I will add to check out the Hot Rod Power tour.
It is in June this year.
They include a race track or two during the cruise but for the most part it is a big rolling car show.
You may want to check out a few of the Mopars listed on this sights for sale section.
I can think of a couple that all you would need a fuel & beer money.https://www.motortrend.com/events/hot-rod-power-tour-2024-route-announcement/

Around 4 years ago, I tried registering for drag week. I started my registration as soon as it was available, but because my credit card is not issued in the US it didn't go through. Had enough time to try 2 or 3 times and it sold out. I wonder if they changed their system, I see a lot of EU people doing power tour or drag week.

Probably not this year as my wife is pregnant, but next year for sure.

The No. 1 reason why hot
rod projects are delayed.

I had a few V8 Vegas 2) racecars sbc & bbc run 9.90s & 8.90s eaisly
2) a 71 & a 73 street cars both sbc's
they make decent racecars with the right suspension,
& a decent V8 & rear end swap, in either light car
Not a really good road car... short wheelbase ride like a bucking board
Also most are really prone to rust too...

street version was something like this/a Baldwin Motion clone
mine was Brown Mustard yellow, drove well for what it was
pretty damn fast too, a 377cid with a full roller & 'Smokey Ram'
single 4bbl box cross-ram induction, under a L88 style hood
TH350 w/3500 stall & a narrowed 9" ford w/4.10:1 gears, 28"x12" M/T rear tires
headers were/are a PITA, nice comfy high-back seats, no rear seat
but it was a fun car, great road manners

74 Vega LS7 468cid S/C 8.90 @ 150+ car, easily on any track
a race version was like this, the 'marron one' in the background left
it was mine some years prior, it was greyish-blue with white stripe
(my altered forefront)

that one in the add (link) looks like a dedicated racecar
would NOT do well on the road, that'd be a hard pass for me
sorry but it's not a good looking version of a lowly Vega even either

you could come over here buy something at the car corral,
put it in a shipping container & ship it home, after you're done here

The Vega looks cool, but I’m a Satellite guy!
