Auto console in a 4 speed coronet

The automatic and 4 speed consoles are shaped different (at least in 68-70)

As purplebeeper mentioned, the auto and manual consoles are different. The top plate is different where the shifter goes through the console. Additionally the drivers side of the 4 speed console has a cover piece covered with carpet that sticks out to accommodate the 4-speed hump and a different chrome trim piece.

I have heard of people converting an auto console to a 4 speed unit When I did my conversion I located a 4 speed console.
 
The main body casting between the 2 are identical. 4 speed is just cut out. And higher holes for trim
 
You can probably cut the plastic on auto console to match a 4 speed console. You'll also need the plastic or fiberglass cover that goes over the 4 speed hump. You'll also need to modify the top plate that has a large opening for the 4 speed boot.

You also need a 4 speed console shift handle with the dog leg in it. Non console 4 speed shift handle doesn't have that.

Might be worth eyeballing the bracket placement. I think the mounting for the console itself is the same between the auto and manual ones, but I do remember my auto car having an extra bracket compared to my manual one. I think that was just for shift linkage though.

As others have correctly noted, you can cut/modify the auto console for clearance, add the drivers side "hump" and drill for new 4 speed trim that sits higher. There is a hump for sale on e-bay right now (1966-70 Original Mopar B & C Body 4 Speed Shift Console Hump Cover | eBay), I'd scoop that up if I were you.

Admittedly I did not get that far when I had the auto car, I had just found some used ones popping up here and there on e-bay and planned to grab one when I was ready. A quick search did not turn up a manufacturer for a new part. I know the sheet metal for the floorpan hump is readily available from AMD, as I did buy one of those.

Could be worth reaching out to one of the fiberglass manufacturers to see if they make one? Seems like an easy part for them to reproduce, and it would cover lots of makes and models.
