Hi All,

My 68 'Net was a Colom Auto and the previous owner removed the colom shift leaver and had installed a floor mounted ratchet shifter. No surprise that I've ripped it out, but I'm left with a hole in the floor where its been hacked up to suit the shifter.

So I want to go with a floor shifter, my original thought was to weld in a manual floor hump (I'd like to eventually go swap to a manual) and run an 'American Shifter' auto shifter. Which offers button or side movement to shift, which I like the sound off. Thing is it mounts to the top of the transmission. So The manual hump is useless and I'll have to cut the floor to suit. I could get a floor mounted Lokar unit, button only, but I've heard they rattle a lot and the button can easily fall out.

So I'm wondering what others have done with floor auto shifters? I'd be happy to run a stock shifter set up (I also want to swap to a console at some point soon) but they seam hard to find complete. I'm also left with what to do with the hole in the floor...

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Cheers

Well, you're a little too far away, but I do have a complete hump with console brackets. But you may be able to find someone closer, maybe at least the west coast. It shouldn't be too hard to find in the US, but I don't know how much shipping is.

Also, how about finding a real metal guy to fabricate what you need?

I've actually already got a Manual floor hump here ready to go and I can do the metal work my self. I just don't want to weld in the manual hump then have to hack out a hole for an auto shifter.

I guess I'm looking to see if there are any auto shifters that could use the manual humps exit location?

OR if there is some where I could get the floor auto tunnel and shifter etc?

I'm hoping to get the whole car in to be painted in a couple of months and I don't want to be hacking it up further down the line. I'd also like to put down some dynamat or equivalent, so the less I need to change later the better.

Thanks!
