Hello I am converting a 67 satellite from a 3 speed to 4 speed. My dad left me his a833 OD transmission with the long tail shaft. I am trying to find the correct bellhousing. I have an aluminum 3743859 but it needs work. will this bellhousing work?

thanks

Biggest thing is measuring the OD of the front bearing retainer ad measuring the ID of the front bellhousing hole and making sure they are the same size and match up. If not, they make different front bearing retainers and adapter rings to make it work. That, and make sure you have the correct clutch and flywheel for the size of bellhousing. That bellhosing says it is for a LA motor from a 74 car with a 10.5 or 11" clutch......should be ok providing you are running a small block. Here is the bellhousing list below for casting numbers.

You will probably need the floor hump added to make room for the 4speed shifter.

I converted a Duster from a manual 3 speed on the floor to a 4-speed, and the old hump worked just fine. i would think a B body would be the same.

Yup should be the same hump and pedals. Just need the trans, shifter, bellhousing assuming it is a 3 speed on the floor and not on the column. Now then you would need the hump and some other goodies to make it correct.

What size engine do you have? Oem Big block bellhousing’s are much harder to find than small block.

I assumed he meant a 3 on the column. Also, if this is a Satellite, it probably has a console. Be aware there is a different panel for the console that is needed to cover the larger floor hump too.....

You would be correct. He never did state if it was a floor or column shift.

Boy talk about being on the ball, you guys are great. It was a three on the tree, I do have the hump and it is a bench seat so I was lucky enough to have to buy the cheap 600 dollar shifter. The bell housing has the 5.125 opening in the front which is the same as tranny that I rebuilt after dad passed. I did it with the long tail shaft parts that I got from brewers. The engine going in is a 360 roller motor I built which came in at 390 hp. I also put in a moser rear with 390 trutrac and old school centerline wheels. From your inputs I'm guessing I need the same clutch fork ball (proper name?) as the old one or a different replacement not sure.
