B Body Cruise Control

I bought a 1968 Dodge Monaco with a 383 HP and it has a cruise control. I'm just wondering if this is a straight interchange with the 68'?-70' B Body. I've parted and sold a lot of parts over the years but this one has me a little stumped. Anybody have a full system? or Exploded diagram or additional information on this?

68 charger rt. Dont know if this helps. I think they are the same.

Dang.... I've been working on putting together a cruise control system for my '70 on & off for the last 5 yrs. The only part I don't have is a good 70 b-body cruise lever (have a rough one with the guts hanging out....still looking)

Anyway.... from what I've learned, there is a subtle difference in appearance of the knobs for 68/69/70. I believe it's in 70 that you have 2 wires coming out of the stem instead of 3 wires. I believe 70 is also the first year that doesn't have the vacuum hose going to the cruise control unit. You can tap into a standard brake switch for your cruise, but the stock cruise brake switches have an extra spade connector. Each cruise control bracket is car-specific.

Each body style has a different shape/length of arm, though I've seen a guy cut up a C-body cruise lever & a B-body standard lever & graft them together. Some levers will "fit" and work, but not be exactly correct.

I may have some extra parts if you need something. I have a whole plastic tote of cruise stuff I've collected from swapping & salvage yards over the years.

Purple Beeper thanks for your response yes my stem has three wires, it appears to be angled like the Charger in the first response. Oddly I am beginning to think I have everything except good speedometer cables and I have a hunch they will still be available from NAPA. Totally Appreciated.

Bean Head I have a Dodge service manual for 1969 I looked through it but couldn't find the section. You did me a solid favor thanks to your photos I was able to find it in MY service manual. Thanks a million. It appears to be the same for 1968-9 then change in 70' (reference the Purple Beeper above). As with all of you I appreciate the help. Now if I can determine an honest value.....best wishes.
 
speedo cables for cruise can be bought new and fairly cheap from rockauto!

The bracket that mounts to the inner fender changes somewhat depending on model application, but then a lot of them were also the same.

One somewhat hard part to find is the cable attachment at the throttle linkage.

Most people don't grab that for some reason.

It's a small triangular U channel and a roll pin, kind of tricky to get out.

I would like to know myself. I drive most of the time with the cruise on even in the city and have gotten spoiled (lazy),
 
BTW- the control stalk the OP has is a kind of pricey part.

Not many pre- 71 cars made with CC.
 
I still have all of the factory cruise on my 70 R/T S.E. Charger. Looks to be the same set up. As mentioned the mounting brackets are different between different body styles.
 
I saw a stem on ebay yesterday..
 
68 and 69 have three wires in the stalk, 70 has 4 wires.

I see Summit has them, but information is sketchy, and not all parts are included in the kit. Very little info on kits for Mopar.......MO..........

CORRECTION you need a cruise control brake switch.
 
As has been mentioned 69 & earlier uses similar but different parts, instead of an electrical signal to disable the cruise upon brake application they use a vacuum dump valve attached to the brakes pedal... Starting in 70 it's an electric signal..

So early servo has two vacuum hose connections, late has one..
Early brake switch has a vacuum connection, late switch has the normal two terminals plus two more with a couple short wires to a connector.
Switches early three wire vs late four wire..
 
I put a '71 Chrysler cruise set-up on my '64 Polara years ago. The brake pedal switch has two sets of contacts; one turns the brake lights on, the other turns the CC system off. The original Chrysler switch is hard to find, but I found a switch from RockAuto that does the same job. I think it was for Chev. Suburban.
