I had a 68 Orange-Krate, as a kid. They had no front fender.

Some things from my childhood.....I loved race tracks and grandma would always have a Sears mail order catalog that I would sit and drool over, carfully Mark pages just in case someone needed an idea....never got the $49 Tyco but had a bunch of others...

Awe yes the Coveted Red Barron Hot Wheels

-------------------------------------------------------

I had a ton of different slot cars too from
HO 1/64 {?} up-to 1/16th {?} scale,
use to go to a track called Busy Bee's in Concord Ca.,
killer track in about a 10,000 sqft hobby shop most of it was all track,
drag-strip & closed circuit too...
Ironically it was next to Service Center Speed Shop...
That was my 1st real intro into racing...
I had the big box carry cabinet
I carried with all my slot cars, bodies, spares & parts etc.
My step dad Bob a longtime drag racers,
would help me build & braze/rod style frames for killer tube cars
kicked some *** back in the day !!

great memories

There was an electronics instructor of mine..had a Lear jet, avionics master, put an aviation pinger in his 67 fastback Mustang, always left the window down and keys in the ignition.
Bragged in lectures about how quickly his car got recovered after theft.
He drove past Lo-Jac every day..
Guess what the commercial version of this technology got named?

I remember these on all the counters at the Woolworths along with the old soda fountains... I think either Poly or Kiwi said they have Woolworths in the southern hemisphere...

Too many of these things make me sad about the current world we live in. I'm so glad to have grown-up in the 60-70's.
