In September I ordered some spark plugs from Summit along with some other parts.
Nothing special,Bosch Platinum+4 #4479.Figured what the heck,try something different.Always been a Champion guy.
Every few weeks I get a update that they are back ordered.Don't care, was gonna put them on the shelf till I needed 'um.Just needed something to fill out the order to get free shipping. I got a update that they will be in 11/27/17.Then 12/28/17.
My latest update is 1/29/18.Every time they ask if I want to cancel.Naw,I just want to see how this plays out.
I did this before with Year One with a hood emblem that was in their catalog.Every update I was asked "Do you want to cancel ? Naw,lets see how this plays out.Took 5 years,every few weeks,"Do you want to cancel ? Then one day it shows up in the mail. Gotta give 'um credit, they got me what I asked for. I'm rootin' for Summit to come through !!

Yeah if you have the time to wait. If you need them now, that's a different story.

I've ordered material for my seats five weeks ago and still don't have it. Made contact with the company several times and then they shut down over the holidays. My upholstery guy is going to bump me if I don't get it soon!

I'd do that on something can get else where and use it when it comes in. Better yet if someone has to do the update because it's not an automated update.

Next purchase from Summit reference the original date and all the other times it has been bumped. They will usually give a little discount to make this purchase a little better....

I'll do a backorder as an absolute last resort... that kind of stuff has happened to me too many times from various vendors over the years...

I ordered something for my jeep once from quadratec. It was backordered and I forgot about it. Years later after I have sold the jeep I get it in the mail

I ordered a TCI shifter from Summit and it was back ordered. I also was emailed about every month with a new date. Same deal, did I want to cancel. Nine months til TCI shipped direct but Summit was great about keeping me informed. I also had no immediate need. Dave

Ordered a Lakewood starter adapter kit from local speed shop, back ordered. I had the cup for the starter nose, made the rest. If I didn't have cup probably would have found a freeze plug and weld a stud to it. 3 1/2 months later kit came in. Sold kit on ebay at a $10 loss.
