lets just say i won't buy from indy cylinder heads again. i may have had some "basic" questions, but they dont have to be a**holes.

bought some x-heads for my SB, and i was supposed to know that they need the magnum head bolts - even though it is nowhere on their website, or the rhs website. apparently i inconveneniced someone today, with a call regarding the bolt length and head gasket questions.

and, confused by the word "LEFT" on both my boxes, i asked if they went a certain way. The response: "well, the flat surface touches the other flat surface." really? grow up.

my first head purchase, i don't feel like the questions were stupid or disrespectful. i spend over $1000 bucks, jeez, f-ing jerks. taking my business elsewhere. great job!

I do not have any Indy products myself.BUT,I have read many times if your gunna use thier product, get it from one of thier dealers. They actually care about customers and will help you aftersale:headbang:

i live in the area and wouldn't walk across the street to talk to them.

Thats how they operate!Get your money, and if you have a problem it's on you! They won't help.

You are not the first person I have heard that from. I don't have any indy parts but several guys I know do and they will never go to Indy again. There are people that make trick set-ups besides them I"m sure, It just won't say Indy. F**k them, everybody needs to let them sink.

Good to know guys, I have a six pack short block (rough) and have been researching heads and of course Indy is on the list...not anymore. That's all a person needs....

OK,,, time to chime in!
I am soooo happy to see this happen,,, I'm sorry that it had to happen to a fellow Mopar and B-Body guy,,, but I'm glad the word is out!!!! I wish you the very best with your purchase,,, I truely do!!!!
Now then,,, I have even read where guys buy them and other name brands, then take them to the local head specialist and have work done? Things like valve seating, porting, polishing, etc etc. Or they pay even more money to have the manufacture send them off to be CNC'd and charge you even MORE money for the heads!
What the hell is this crap!!!??? I had enough of this and bought a set of ProComp Victor 440 heads and LOVE them! I can pay HALF the price and take them to the machine shop, get the very same work done as the guy that paid 2000 bucks for his name brand POS heads! I'm tired of the "buy American" point of view, when I just can't afford it, and even if I could, I can't justify the manufactures pricing!!! The manufactures pricing IS the very reason I cant "buy American"......
I am positive that I have an equaly good solution to my needs by purchasing the heads that I have!
I suggest others look into this as well for an alternative solution for your needs.
I can only speak on behalf of the BB heads, and have had no conversations regarding the SB heads....
I hope this can help others interested in new heads and making an informed decision.

Thanks for the info BBody, was just looking at a car craft article about the Vicotor's, the dyno numbers look impressive...a little confused though...are they an Edelbrock product or a copy of them, a stand alone company?

They are Pro-Comp brand. Copy of Edelbrock

the last indy heads i played with were the EZ's. i thought they were crap. wouldn't bolt to the block, the internal oil passage for the rocker gear was flaky, and what a crummy exhaust port. you hear all the magazine guru's hype them up, but i wonder if they're paying for the crap they hype or if parts are given to them for free ink. i have no love for comp cams, and am viewing edelbrock with some suspicion. but, the mags keep hyping the stuff; probably for advertising money and i bet they don't pay for nothing they test.

didn't buy the indy heads, just bought the rhs heads - but then indy assembles them with the springs, retainers, seals, etc. i hope they didn't botch that.

maybe it was a bad omen when i opened the box and a smashed up valve seal fell out. i checked my heads, and everything was there so it didn't come from my set. but it reaffirms the thought that a bunch of angry, possbily sloppy people are working there. it seems like they have some popular products, but they probably only give a sh*t if you spend 10K a month on their stuff. the rest of us don't matter.

from now on, i'll follow hemi-itis's advice and just buy direct. i only saved a couple bucks, and i'd rather spend extra knowing i'm supporting a decent group of people.

Bought a crate engine for my 41 Willys a few years back(just shy of $15000), there was an issue with rear flange of the crank they acted as if I hadn't a clue as to what I was talkin about, very insulting, real jerks to try to deal with after they got their money. Arrogance and ignorance at its best, Russ Flagle and Ken Lazzari, true A holes to deal with

The problem with Indy is the owner Russ Flagle. Ken Lazzari is a very knowledgeable guy but his hands are tied because of the co-owner Russ.Hes a complete douche.
I have/had a oppotunity to be sponsored by them this year with a new NSS motor built by them for very little money.
They offered me this sponsorship to run their INDY LOGO on my 4 cars and campaign their logo on the East coast.
Ken and I had a ironclad deal and it was going to be a win win situation for both of us till ol' Russ got involved.
I then declined the offer. I just went to Keith Black for a new Aluminum block and said screw Indy. What a waste of time.

Well, I guess that cross them off the list. Was thinking about the EZ heads as well. Only takes one.

Use to take my Road King to a chopper shop here in OKC, He got a new partner, and that guy's smart a$$ remarks has almost stopped me from giving them any business.
If I do go in, and the owner not there, I tell the other guy, Sorry, I only deal with Greg.

To go a step further,Indy pioneered MANY new parts for us MOPAR peeps. That said, they have many great products and so do several other manufacturerers. The point is,if you gunna buy Indy,go to INDY DEALER FOR THE PUCHASE and THEY will stand behind the products they sell.Thank goodness we have the choices we have theses days and it all started with indy.We are also lucky to have alot od good machinists here on MOPARTS as well as Indy Dealers:headbang:

bad custiomer service at indy cylinder head...

OK, thats a "wrap"!
By reading ALL OF THESE POSTS, you are definitely "on to something" Mferroaro76. The "pen is mightier than the sword". I wont deal with Indy any more. Had a head job performed by them back in 2001 on m Superbee's 383s 906 heads. Bought Hansen Stage Vs for the Hemi. NO MORE INDY FOR ME!

:headbang:

I will pile on. Just in case someone is still in doubt about INDY.

They are horrible people in attitude and service, and flat out dishonest when it matters. Of special note is Russ's barking dog manager Jim Hill. Utterly unethical. And that on top of lousy workmanship and defective rocker arms. Yes, the INDY heads are great, but the people suck.

I have all the documentation about their failures, as well as their "service from hell" failures. I posted details on Moparts once as a warning; about 5 dozen others added their horror stories, but the thread "disappeared". We have to keep up vigilance on this subject to save our friends.

All I can say is that they must kick each other hard in the nuts every morning to provide that level of service. What a shop of horrors.

WARNING to all future readers: do not do business with them. They will not back up their products or their work.

Thank you.

Once again, for the prices they charge, one would expect nothing less than a "track-ready" part! And for a $15,000 motor......that should have been dyno'd, and leak-tested for FREE! As a good businessman, you can build warranty costs into your prices, so you can AFFORD to give great service at these prices.

I agree. I have talked with them at a few shows/track events. Everytime I talk with them they treated me like a complete idiot and acted as though I was bugging them. I can't bring myself to give them any graditude when they look down their noses at me.:thefinger:
