barrett Jackson ridiculous prices

I agree with the ridiculous auction prices, dang these cars are going for STUPID money. $3,600,000 for a 2023 Corvette; really.
All the while, FBBO member Darius sold his '70 GTX through Mecum a few months back for far less money than he was hoping to get. This market is weird.

Add the cost of restoration on top of the
rarity of the car and it starts to become
appearant as to why cars are so expensive
these days.
I purchased a set of Koni drag shocks 26
years ago for $200 each. That same shock
today is $540.00. And the cost of paint and
finish materials are extremely expensive.
Most of these cars are restored in shops
where labor rates are high also.

And in usual fashion BJ went to commercial while selling Mopars... $990,000..

I thought I was the only one who caught on to that. I've been complaining about the commercials when mopars come on stage for years. Can't stand watching BJ anymore for that reason. Mopars get scheduled for 1st few days and then you hardly see any. Mecum is much better for 60 and 70 muscle cars.

Same here. Very light on the Mopars. They sold a Hemi Supebird during one of the commercial breaks and when they came back, one of the commentators stated it broke the record for Superbirds, $900K I think. Why wouldn’t they show that? They knew it was going to be a high dollar car. How many modified ‘60’s corvettes, 70’s Broncos and Camaros does one need to see?! I’ve been watching this auction for many years and found this one to be underwhelming. No real excitement.

We have a shortage of truckers. Product sitting at distribution centers with no one to move them. St. Paul, MN is really bad as local issue.

Funny, I made a trip to Atlanta from Central florida and back recently.. All I saw were trucks... There were SO MANY trucks that there was almost NO ROOM FOR cars on the highway?? When I went by any rest area it was so full of parked trucks ( including a mile before the entrance and a MILE beyond the return to freeway road) I thought it was an Insurrection of truckers? I have NEVER seen the road so full of trucks..
How did we do it before???? With less than 1/2 of the trucks on the road then????

Chevy Bias is not imagined. Even with the Dodge sponsored commercials.

Seems it's a sellers/consigners market
shops will be busy
parts will be selling
businesses around collecter cars &
especially resto-mods/day 2 cars/quality builds, attention to detail
the economy will be stimulated

everyone will try to capitalize on the higher prices
every ratted out clapped out POS, rusting away
in some hoarders back pasture,
that thinks 'their' clapped out POS is now worth
what something that just went across BJ stag is worth
that went thru an extensive '2000+ hr build' by professionals
sorry I don't equate the car hobby that way

these Auction serve a purpose, place in this hobby
they provide a place for buyers to come, enjoy themselves
& spend to their hearts desires

I don't begrudge anyone of that
& very few of the cars that went for over $50k
were shadetree builds

seems like people were willing to spend

on either side of it,
the buyer, spends what he/she wants
the seller/consigners get a place with
preapproved audiences that are there to spend $$$ & buy
have some fun while doing it too
Win Win IMHFO

nobody is forcing anyone to spend or sale

& IMHFO they aren't clapped out rusted hulls,
1/2 finished or 1/2 builds, they are fully built
& some rare cars
Remember those cars that are popular when new
will always be more desirable, when it comes time to sell
& many have had thousands of hrs ($50+ - $100+ shop rate)
& multiples of $10's of thousands if not $100's of thousands
of dollars spent to build/labor parts etc.,
just to bring them to that specific auction

(people were denied of, for nearly 2 years)

To get the best prices they can possibly get for their cars
(like every person does, want the most for their sale)
The auction company did that for them
& they make a great earning doing it too

I'm glad to see the resto-mod market go ballistic
more then most the OE stuff

& yes it was nucken' futs' prices
seemed like 2007 all over again, million $$$ cars
for **** that sold for 1/4 of that prior
especially for any 50s- 80s PU or a mid 60s - mid 70s Bronco

I think (or seemed like) every damn Shelby (or Mustang) that was ever sold
went across that stage too

my $1.25

To add to my earlier post…part of it is seeing some of the rides I had back in the day such as my ’70 BB 4sp Cuda vert I traded in for 600 bucks and my all-optioned ’67 GTO vert I sold for $900. I was looking at a ’70 Cuda (actually Barracuda – clone) a few months ago for the unusually low price of 70 grand. I could fork out this much; but guess I’m too old to think of doing this having the history I have. This world of nutty car prices has passed me by for the people out of my class, sometimes in more ways than one.

I liked when GJ said he thought the C8 he drove could use more power.

Ask them to come north? Hundreds of trailers full with products sitting for days/weeks. It might be just a local thing. That was the point of the post. Short range trucking opportunities.

Which is why I stream it live through the link on their site. Zero commercials. I don't get to hear Steve Mags commentary but no interruptions.

But when you get to stand up front with your trophy wife and she's getting all the camera time and you spend a million dollars you know she's going to put out tonight.
