Why quality tires should be used on muscle cars.
I just wanted to Post the Good News, Haggerty Insured me on my claim, and she is off to the body shop this week.....
Ive been kickin myself around over the fiasco, and thats why I posted it, Hard Lesson to Learn, my car had never been in a body shop other than a repaint, it hurt to see the damage, i was putting money into my Bird Im building neglecting my other car, Not again! Thanks for the comment.Great news - I sure it will come back looking great!
I want to add my $0.02 regarding old tires. Tires are made to be driven, worn out and then discarded/recycled. Our old muscle cars drive very little so the tires don't LOOK worn, but the tires start failing because the rubber starts breaking down. The Corvette guys are especially nuts - they pay big bucks for 60 year old tires that are time bombs. Those guys barely drive the cars (if at all), but still...
Folks, do yourselves a favor. As someone said in an earlier post: Check the date codes on your tires. If they are more than 10 years old dump them! Is it expensive to buy tires? You bet, but certainly less expensive than major car repairs, or even worse an accident with injuries or death...
For one the OE Gold Mopar and Vette guys with NOS tires they DO NOT drive them on the street. They are backed out of the trailer/transport and babied over to a show spot. Top speed maybe 5mph, lol.....Some even jack the cars up at the show spot and change out the tires to the NOS ones....Most of those cars have about 12-15 grand in just tires alone.....Great news - I sure it will come back looking great!
