Beginning my 68 super bee restoration

enough with that little pile of crap....... get to some cuttin' on that Super Bee, it ain't gonna cut itself

There isn't much left to cut lol. I'm not going to deep as my outer rockers are on backorder until October. I have the 1 piece floor pan and inners already.

Here is the car in all it's rusty glory. I finished taking all the trim off and found pop rivets under the vinyl top trim. I investigated it further and found that the car must've been wrecked at one point. The right quarter has been replaced. It even has the oem number on the inside. I did find the outer wheel house is still smashed up. They just put the quarter over it. The pics show the inner wheel house and the rivets. Also you can see the RR was hit again and it's all rotted out now because it was all bondo. That's it for today.

I found my 68 coronet in nevada in June 23. It's nearly ready for paint. Get ready to pay dearly for any dodge parts you don't yet have. And the "slow and steady" advice is excellent!

Today I was able to finally cut into the car. I started removing the floor and the patches that the PO had put in. I was able to save the cut out for the 4spd hump to use as a template on the new floor.
I also found a bunch of bondo where the battery tray mounts. I ground all that out and am not sure why it was put there in such a way. It was slathered on. I found a little rust in the bottom by the frame. Not sure what I'm going to do to address it yet.
I did come to the realization that the PO didn't really know what they were doing when they replaced the lf frame rail. I have to take it back off and install it correctly. There is a lot of bad welds and it is not positioned correctly on the firewall. Its about an 1/8 off the fire wall. Anyway enjoy my pics.

Good to see it out of the elements & being saved. Keep up the good work!

What are your plans for it? OEM, Restomod or something else?

Anyone know if they make this bracket aftermarket? Here's both sides of it.

I did some more work this weekend. I cut it up pretty good. I found another part I need to buy before I can start reassembly. I need to get the door hinge panel as mine has to many pin holes to fix. But I'm ready to go back together once I get it.

Are there any Hot Rod shops/guys around your area? That would be an easy one to make. Just need a bead roller and sheet metal brake.
Not that I know of.
I did find AMD sells it. I didn't really want to pay $75 for it. But I need it as it didn't come off to intact

Its been a bit since an update. I was able to mock up the rocker panel. It fits good. But I realized I needed to buy the outer cowl panel. The original has to many pin holes to fix.

Here's the outer cowl off and the mock up of the new part. Also fit really good. I have to fix a hole in the pillar on the door side

Here's the piece I'm making to fix the hole in the pillar and a few shots of the inner cowl as I'm cleaning up the rust.

Mercy. The ViseGrip folks appreciate your patronage! :)

An A12 hood on a '68, eh? Y'all know they didn't make 'em like that. Why, that's heresy!
That's be almost as silly as putting the '69 bumble bee stripe on 'er....
super bee 2.jpg
Oops.
Did I do that?
Well, no - but I did buy it like that, way back in the early 80's.
Miss that car like hell to this day.....
Don't get me wrong; Fred the GTX is my boy these last dozen years and is a family member at
this point - but a '68 Bee remains a holy grail car for me, even after owning two in my lifetime.

Give 'er hell, we'll be following your progress!

The hood came with the car. I don't have the original hood. Also what do you mean by the stripes? I don't know the color or even if it had them as the build sheet was mouse crap and the fender tag was rusted beyond readable.
