Guys,

I have a 69 RR with a matching 383. What is the best option to keep a complete stock look to the engine bay? I hear folks recommend the Pertronix Ignitor product. Does the coil look stock? Trying to build a show car but need the electronic ignition since we drive the car.

I use pertonix,and like it
You may be able to use the same coil

I installed a pertronix ignitor in my 72 Lincoln MkIV and it runs fine. I did this years ago before the Pertronix II came out. The big difference is, the original Pertronix units are prone to burning out if you leave the ignition switch in the "ON" position and the engine is not running. You can put it on ACCESSORIES and that's okay. The Pertronix II and later versions have supposedly over come that problem. I think some of the bad press on Pertronix may have come from early versions dying due to the above. I always warn the guys in our service department about that and I guess they're sick of hearing it from me. I also replaced the OEM distributor on my 77 Cordoba (Lean Burn System) with a Pertronix distributor. It works fine as well. The only rub with it was I had to grind a little metal off the corner of the right cylinder head as the Pertronix distributor is a bit wider in diameter than the stock Mopar distributors. In both cases, I used the Flame Thrower coil they recommend.
