Okay, so I've run through a tank of gas with the Chinese sender, and I am very happy. I put about three gallons of gas into the tank when I installed it, and when I fired up the car the gas gauge barely moved. It moved a hair, but not much. Then I went and filled up, and got full deflection to the right. I drove the car for about a week, and last night the gauge was between 1/4 and 1/2 full. I tanked up and put 13 gallons in, so the gauge was pretty much spot on.
I was talking to a guy in our Mopar club a few weeks ago who was having problems with his sender, constant full deflection to the right, and he said he thought the guys who installed it didn't index it right. The tabs on the sender align with slots cut in the tank, and there's only one way they go in, but I remembered when I was installing mine it would fit great without the gasket, but when I put the gasket on I had to put a lot of pressure on the sender to keep it in place while I got the locking ring on. I wonder if maybe his installers had that problem and just ground off the tabs to make the install easier and now the float arm is crooked and not functioning correctly.
