Hey everyone,

I plan on getting new wheels measuring 15x7 for the front and 15x8 for the back. I don't know how wide the wheels on my car currently are because they are the ones that came on it when I bought it recently. I do know that the current tires on the car are the BF Goodrich Radial T/A in sizes are 235/60R15 (front) and 275/50R15 (rear).

I like the current width of the tires now, but I want to get tires that don't have the white letters on them. So far the only success I have had on my search through the internet for tires without white letters that fit 15in wheels is the Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R. The problem is the measurements for these tires are in the inches format instead of millimeters. I have looked through the websites for both manufacturers and done unit conversions for length of millimeters vs inches and at this point I am just confused. I was hoping that someone in this community with a little more experience could help me.

What is the width I can do in the Mickey Thompson S/R that is closest to the above tire sizes on 7in and 8in wide wheels? The available sizes are as follows:

  • 26x6
  • 26x8
  • 26x10
  • 26x12

Any help is appreciated. If there is a tire out there that I have missed that has completely black sidewalls and comes in sizes that fits 15in diameter wheels, please tell me as well.

Thank you.

I hope this helps, this is how I do it. 25mm equals 1". I'm almost embarrassed writing this, it may not be what you're asking for. Just divide the millimeters by 25, that should do it. I figured I would try and help being you had no response. Take care and again I hope this helps.

Wheel width and tire width are only a part of the overall equation. Wheel back-spacing, tire height, tire sidewall type, etc. also must be factored in. Based on your limited info, I'd guess the 8's for the front, the 10's for the rear.

BFGoodrich tire specs
275/60/15 are 28 inches tall- 9"wide tread
235/60/15 are 26.1 inches tall- 8" wide tread

only 1 side of the tire has white letters on it, you can mount it either way, they are not a directional tire. i have both sets on cars, b/f and mickeys

Everyone,

Thank you for the help! I appreciate it.

25.4 is the correct number to calculate back and forth between metric and inch
275 = 10.8"

I'm also in the market doing the same research for my 74 Charger.
I know a guy who has 29x12.5 Hoosiers on the back of his 74 Charger.
Slight lift with air shocks but can still rub if maxed out on a bad road.
Not sure what his offset is, the rim was selected by a professional wheel shop.
It is centered as good as it gets between the leaf spring and the fender.
But with this I now know I can safely be next size down from his tire with no issues. I just don't need that much out back anyway - he has a blower.
This is a great tool for referencing tire sizes:
