Hello all. I am looking to change wheels on my 65 Coronet with stock spring location and going to either a steel wheel 15 X 8 or cop car wheel. I know the cop car wheel is 15 X 7 but may have it changed to 15 X 8 to put a 275/60/15 tire on it. Anybody know what back space fits the best to put the biggest tire on it. Also what size tire looks good on the front to match. I do want a skinny up front I want nor a wide road handling size tire. Any pics would be nice. thanks

with stock spring location. i went with 15 x 8 rims with 6.5 back space. pictures later on.

heres a stock spring with a protrac tire and american racing wheel.

Is a 15 X 7 wheel okay for the 275/60. Is that the minimum width you would use for the size tire. How does the tread sit on the ground when aired up. Do you get full tread pattern on the ground is what I mean.

yes it is ok, and yes i get a full tread pattern on the ground. i have taken the tires off a few times and they fit back on the wheel just fine, not forcing the tire to fit on wheel...

I have a 15x8 with a 295/50/15 tire, it looks very good i think.

Super stock racer those wheels in the back have a 6.5" back space?cause i cant find them anywhere

I bet they are either 4.5 or 5.5 backspace. With 6.5 bs, there would hardly be any lip on the outside.
I have cop wheels all around with 255/60/15 and 215/70/15 BFG TA's.
I am thinking of going to an 8" rear wheel on rear and 6" in front.
Here's a pic

15x8 w/5.5 bs

On my 65 Coronet w/inboard springs I am running a 15x8 steel rim with a 4.5 bs. I shaved the lip all the way and have just enough room to fit my 28x10.5 M/T ET Drags. They only fit because they are 28's, anything taller would rub.

With the 4.5bs this a pic of the wheel well lip. Only a 1/2" clearance.

i think there are 4.5, i like the 295/50 rather than the 275/60 but thats just my opinion, they all look good.

wheel size

I put 15x8 with 4/12" bs Have 275-60 TA's stock spring location.The car is a 65 coronet 500

Here's 15X8 with 4-1/4" b.s. and a 255-70 tire. Really need about another 1/2 or 3/4 more in b.s. Things are a wee bit tight...my contact area if the inner wheel house where the panel curves up towards the roof. Not bad,but...Gotta get my springs re-arched or get new ones.

RJB. I definetly want to get the biggest tire in the stock wheel well. How tall and wide is the 295/50 compared to the 275/60. It looks like 4 1/2 BS is the way to go.
