the show wasn't judged or anything, it was just a benefit for curing children's cancer. I m sure she would won something if they were handing out hardware at the end, but then again... some pretty high end stuff there

trying to get everything fixed / sorted out since I got it home, got all the linkage somewhat set, got break in oil swapped out for new stuff, plug wires off the headers and so on... few questions I got for ya guys,
1- what should I use if anything for a filter on the vent line from the fuel cell? they ran a -10 an hose outside kinda in the rear fender area but it doesn't have a filter on it, i'm assuming you don't want any restriction but also assuming you don't what that thing sitting there open so **** can get in.
2- is there any close setting for the caltracs while car is on the hoist? or just basslicy set em' like the book tells ya and work at adjustments after I get some miles/wear on everything?
3- and this is the one really bugging me, I have ordered 2 trunk locks so far for a 1970 charger and they both came the same and look way too small for the hole like a chrome washer or ring is supposed to go on first even though everyone ive talked to at the parts places says they don't show a ring or washer or any different lock than the one ive ordered, I can see light around the lock so I know it aint right but cant seem to find the correct trunk lock kit or washer to make it correct?

1) You could use a filter like the one I have MagnaFuel Fuel Filter- MP-7010 Aeromotive would also have lot of options

2) Mine were just set to the book and worked after. Didn't need much more pre-load

3) I would ask that question specifically in the 66-70 Mopars section or the Paint & Bodywork section. Likely to have more people see it there that would have your answer. Pics would help of what you have I'm sure.

hey guys! just giving ya some updates.. got about 30 miles on the car now and dang is that thing fun. its going in for exhaust Thursday so I can really get out and drive it after that, the cops were lookin at me a little hard with open headers lol. with the nitto 305's the car really hooks better than I thought it would, first gear is all smoke but after that it's all fun. the 2800 stall makes it pretty friendly on the street.

-wish I would have went with the stage ll firm feel box instead of the stage lll, just a touch to firm for me but it really does make a WORLD of difference.

no show, just took it for a spin durring the nice day we had Saturday ..wasn't able to make it to the counts show, don't own a trailer yet and hate borrowing my buddy's too often. don't wanna wear out my welcome. am going to try to make it to most of the shows in the east part of the state that I can. If I had a trailer it would be a different story!

got her out for a good cruise last night!! 8mpg and that's with e85 and a little screwing around too, not bad I must say. do got 1 problem.. its only 65 out and it overheats in town. runs right at 180 on highway but once you hit 3 lights in town she is pissin out the overflow and getting up to 210 plus, once you start cruising over 40 mph she gets cool again. have a 26" 4 core radiator and 2 12" electric fans that flow 850cfm each. I did some research and am thinking maby a 2500 cfm single 16" fan would do it?

just ordered a be cool 2400 cfm be cool pusher fan and a 2 pass external "heat sink" oil cooler cooler, hopefully that helps, im sure having that tranny fluid circulating in the radiator doesn't help things

PS.... had my first race this weekend. a zo6 corvette chased me down and asked if I wanted to run em, gave him 2 a 2 car jump and he ended up 4 cars behind me in just under 1/4, even after loosing horribly he had a big ol smile on his face and said damn is that a cool car

Yeah IMO the 2) 850cfm fans aren't enough, not with what you have...
I have 2) Perma-Cool alum. fans on mine, on a custom
22" 4 core alum. Mancini Racing Rad. 20lb cap & a custom shroud on the puller,
a 16" puller 2950cfm #19115 {you probably don't have room for a puller fan}
a 13" pusher 2650cfm #19113 on the front for just incase,
if & when it ever gets hot idling around,
both wired thru Bosh 30amp relays & arming switches,
180*-190* all day long in 95*+ summer heat {so far}

They have them in 12.5", 13", 14" & 16" {they are all reversible too}
Maybe 2) 12.5" pushers, diagonally mounted one hi one low ???

But it's not blown thou, but I'm also in the Calif. heat
but makes about 600hp/600tq about a little less than 11:1 compression on pump-gas,
she's just a mild mannered NA 6bbl street-bruiser...

Remember the rad. cap lb pressure makes a big difference in boiling point too...

You could always try the waterless Evans Waterless Coolants
allot higher boiling point & thicker, better surface tension for better cooling...

I was going to use it if I had any issues, didn't need to "yet"

I just use Be-Cool coolant & Purple Ice conditioner/additive, from Royal Purple for now

IIRC you need like 2000-2500cfm for every 300hp {or something like that},
idling would be far bigger issues, than open road & air passing thru...

I would rather have more cfm & not need it, than not nearly enough & chance it...

sounds like the car is doing great keep us posted & do some photos & especially a video too...

I can't believe I missed this thread!! Very nice build. I do like the roots blown cars myself! I might be lucky, but I do not run electric fans. I was able remove them. I run an OE 054 and a OE shroud and a 6 blade Stainless fan. (18")

thanks a lot for chiming in guys! yea I have ZERO room for anything on the engine side of the radiator, I will try the 16" up front and see what happens, if that don't work im up a creek haha. I would love to have an overkill of cfm but I have nowhere to put it without moving the radiator somehow and that's not happening anytime soon lol! I did add water wetter and I will add a larger cap, I will do like you stated and throw a 20 lb cap on there to raise the boiling point. I also think that heat sink tranny cooler I ordered will help a bit. I will keep you posted! im going to throw the gopro on for the next race for ya guys

one other thing I gotta try figure out is the transmission/linkage. the linkage at the shifter seems to be fine but if you put the car in neutral it acts like its stuck half way between neutral and drive "the car will actually drive but trans slips, like its 50% engaged". also when in drive it shifts perfect until it tries to go into 3rd and then it revs up pretty high and you need to goose it "tap the gas quickly" and when the rpms start coming down it shift into 3rd fairly hard. brand new trannt form 727 specialists and I talked to him and he seems to think its in the trans linkage/ kickdown so will have to try sorting all that out as well

Loved the video. Good luck on the cooling, pushers are iffy not having a shroud. I personally know how tight these Chargers are and can't imagine having a blower belt up there.

well, good news and bad news. taking the trans lines off the radiator and mounting the separate trans cooler dropped the engine temp by about 10 degrees so I think its gonna be as good as its ever gonna get. bad part is after driving around town for 30-45 min while outside temp was 45 degrees the tranny is getting pretty warm, guess I don't know if its too hot but I can garuntee on a 80 degree day it will be. creeps up on 230 but then when you get out cruising at 45-60 it cools off pretty quick but starts heating up again pretty quick when you hit traffic. I never let it rise above 230 but I know it would have. only a 2800 stall which is kinda suprising its getting that warm. guess i'm out of options other than a few, running tranny lines way to the back of the car and remounting the cooler and finding a fan to put somewhere to blow on it, if I remove my front licence plate I would get more airflow across mine but then I gotta deal with the cops

I will try post some pics later if I get time on how its all mounted and setup, btw the new spal straight blade fan is way better than the last 2, can tell a huge difference just holding your hand behind fan
