With the last suspension modification, it has become a lot of work to change the ride height and swap out the race wheels/tires, so instead of driving the Belvedere up to Willow Springs this March 3 & 4, I now have a tow vehicle and trailer. I'll swap the race setup at home, set the ride height, and trailer the car to the track this time.

It's cool to drive the car up there to race, but after the last outing (where I found that I had four loose ball joints, with one backing out) I decided to err on the side of caution. It's a long trip, and I may do it again some day, but I want to have a little bit of fun this time and not worry about the trip home.

I still had my old Cop Car wheels (five of them) so I decided to use those on the trailer. I'll load the car up this weekend to make a trial run, and will take a pic. I'd love to be doing this with an old D200, but I needed something that I didn't have to work on a lot, so I bought a 2017 RAM Sport for a tow vehicle.

Like the cop car wheels. Hope your not using car tires on the trailer though...

nice truck

did your belvedere make it into the Summit Racing magazine last month? if not, there was one that looked a lot like yours.

Been using car tires on my open flat bed since the 70's with no problems whatsoever....

of course not... they are trailer tires.
Good to hear. Some think they can get by with car tires on a car trailer. Hate to see someone get themselves into trouble.

I must be one lucky sucker then....on the other hand, a buddy of mine is always having tire issues with his trailers and all he uses are trailer tires.

I had a friend with a fifth wheel that was blowing tires every time he went out. He would buy the cheapest tire and over a couple years replaced all six (triple axle toy hauler). I kept asking if he had the axles aligned, he swore that wasn't it.

Ready to head out to Willow Springs... did a test run with the car on the trailer, piece of cake. Now let's see how a 2 hour drive is!

I take it that your mechanic [doc] said you are good to go? Cool. Will keep an eye out for postings on how the suspension works out since you'll be able to push it a little harder now.

Yeah, I guess he said I'm good to go, he said I can start doing physical activities now, so driving is physical, right? lol

The suspension did great, I managed to run the fastest I've ever run, and kept catching the same Camaro - slowing me down, every lap, three to four laps in a row. Didn't let me get around him, so I was stuck. I finally gave up, happy with my time that I got before I caught him.

So...
Last session with the old torsion bar/leaf spring suspension: 1:51 and some change.
Today's session with the new coilover/four link suspension: 1:47 and some change.

Good to hear on the doc releasing you to play. The Camaro guy will be bummed later on when you pass him with the OLD Poly.

Be careful opening the car door while on the trailer. Great rig.

Hard to beat a Cummins! I miss my 02 that'd get great mileage & haul my 24' enclosed with my 4000 lb Challenger like it wasn't there. But, there's something about towing with my 71 W100 that makes it more enjoyable.
