Bought a k car

Love K-cars. Those and Omni/Horizon, were the best beaters I ever owned.
One of my old foreman back in the day, bought a new GLHS. Buddy, that thing would move. Another bought a turbo Daytona, that would too! It did take getting used to the pulling instead of pushing with the power.

Contemporary gm FWD (citation and clones) cars were "just as bad" if not worse than the original K and L platforms.
You could possibly argue that fords were ever so slightly better.

at this point, the K car may be the rarest of survivors......... bring that baby to Carlisle!

Escort, Tempo and Topaz ? Hold on, let me try to think of a worse POS. The Taurus (which we had, good car) did not arrive until 5 years after the K car.

LOVE IT!!

You will have no problem finding mechanical parts - they shared everything back then. Body names: G - Daytona. P - Shadow/Sundance. J - LeBaron coupe/convertible. K - Aries/Reliant. A - Spirit/Acclaim. Even the first gen minivans used the same powertrains and front suspension bits. Struts, springs, K-frames, brakes, engine, trans, and most of the wiring...all interchanges.

The L body (Omni/Charger) has different suspension bits, and a slightly different K frame, but powertrain swaps right over.

2.6 was a mitsu motor.
2.2 8v is a Mopar motor - turbo, and n/a.
2.5 is a stroked 2.2 - turbo, and n/a
2.2 16v (Spirit and Daytona R/T) is the Mopar motor, with a Lotus DOHC 16v head and manifolds - turbo, '91/'92 only.

Auto trans should be a 3 speed A413. Some were lockup; most were not.
Manuals were all 5 speeds - A520, 525, 523, 568 (oldest/weakest to latest/strongest).

Turbo swap is easy...just sayin'...

You can check out shelbydodge.com, or turbododge.com - obviously you don't have a turbo engine, but like I said - most of the other stuff interchanges and all the same advice/upgrades apply. There are a lot of vendors out there for the Shelby Dodges, and I have ZERO problem getting stuff for mine at the local NAPA when I need it.

For the bumper, there is bumper black paint in a rattle can - it has added flex agents so it doesn't crack when the bumper flexes. If you want to do it right though, you'll need a lot of high-build primer - I can guarantee that has pits all over it where the black is gone. You can simply paint it, but it'll look like sandpaper. If you have a local body shop you can ask them, or if you have a shop that supplies paint TO those body shops, they may be able to fix you up with the right stuff.

Just got the ol' turbo van ('90 Voyager, factory 2.5 turbo) cleaned up today....

And still have my first car, bought new in '91 - Daytona C/S "competition package" with 2.5 turbo and A568 5-speed:

Those look clean!! Thanks for the tips. I just bought the whole 88 front wheel drive factory service manuals for it.

I remember when they were all over the place back in the 80’s when I was daily driving my Charger. I wasn’t looking for a new car but… I’d have sooner bought a Fox Ford or a GM G.

Don't know why you say "just as bad" ??? The GM crap couldn't come close to the K-car and the derivatives. I worked on that crap. The Chevette was a better car than the Citation, and that ain't sayin much.

I stand by my original question......Why?
Why not? Why not just let the 60’s-70’s b bodies rot away? Take all the chargers, roadrunners, gtx’s, cuda’s, challenger’s right to the junk yard. Just because you’re not a fan doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be rescued. Just because it’s a l little 2.2l doesn’t make it any better then a v8.

Thanks, people like to take crap because its a 4 cylinder. Im not looking do a burn outs or race for pink slips. I don’t even do burn outs on my 71 rr

Same here.
I'm just kidding,it takes a big man to want a K car! Lol I have a 75 Dodge van,and two Little Red Express trucks, and that's as far as I am willing to go into the malaise era! I draw the line at the fastest American production vehicle of 1978!

Cool, I think any mopars pre 2000’s cool.

No doubt, but those in-between cars made Vipers and Hellcats possible. They sold a lot of A body slant six cars to make Hemicuda's possible!
