Brake bleeding gizmo

Bought EZ bleeders for my car. A hose and a catch can.

Those only work until the thread sealer goes away then they leak past the threads.

Agree that sealer goes away. Think it's liquid silicone, think Russell sells it so you can re-apply it.

I also got this used Snap On 5/16"-3/8" bleeder wrench off of fleabay which will be good for those awkward front drum bleeders

I have found that the aftermarket (drum) wheel cylinders are 8mm.

Which is 5/16". It is one of the few metric sizes that match fractional exactly.

Don't even put fluid into the master cylinder, bolt everything together dry then start in the right rear & pump about ten squirts in through the bleeder screw and tighten the bleeder... Then move to the left rear & pump until fluid shows up in the master cylinder...

Then move to the right front... And pump til you just see fluid show up in the master cylinder.... Move to the left front & repeat... Top off the M/C... Go drive the car, your done...

I have been turning wrenches for 35 years and have never heard that method. Please explain further. Does that eliminate bench bleeding the MC? I am totally intrigued @1 Wild R/T Learn something new everyday.

yes it eliminates bench bleeding... Your pushing fluid in reverse of it's normal path, Air tends to rise in fluid so trying to force it down to the wheels is dumb... Push it up so it helps rather than fights...

Have you ever seen a master cylinder bled on the car with a syringe?

If your replacing a master cylinder why bench bleed when you can bolt the master on dry & force fluid back through the ports & immediately install the lines?

The normal way isn't always the best way...

Like I mention in a follow up post use a short length of 3/16 hose, slip it over the shirt can nozzle & the bleeder screw...

I very seldom have anyone around so I tried different ways. What works great is to just have a long enough hose for the bleeder to reach into a bottle. Have some fluid in the bottle so the hose can't suck air back into the hose. Open the bleeder and pump the pedal several times. Close the bleeder and move onto the next one.

Snap On has a similar wrench with 1/4" & 5/16 too... Got that one too...

Yeah, I want to eventually get one in 1/4" too, but 5/16" is what I need at the moment.

My son and I tried bleeding his sled brakes for days, new parts etc. Then it was suggested to push the fluid up from the caliper. Was done in about 30 seconds, lever hard as a rock. Its an excellent way to bleed lines. Wished I had known about that method years ago.
