I posted this in the brakes and suspension section but did not get any response so i thought I would re-post it here.

I have a 1970 Satellite with power drum brakes. I want to remove the power booster. Napa sells an inexpensive master cylinder that is a direct replacement for the manual drum brake system. My question is - what else needs to be done to convert the system to manual brakes? Is the rod from the pedal different? Are there any other changes required other than replacing the master cylinder?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Doug, my past experience with this is that the only other thing you may need to change is the rod, however, when you remove the PB MC, leave the rod in place "hanging" and measure how far it protrudes from the firewall, then, using calipers, check it's engagement in the MC.

It will be readily obvious if you need to change/modify the rod.

Hope this helps.
