whats your take on fine folks sticking chevy and ford engines in their mopars ? good , bad , don't care? Personally, I couldn't care less , but when they follow it up with comments like "if i ever want to slow it down i will put a Dodge back in it" it kind of gets under my skin. ive been seeing a lot of this lately .here are two examples , BB chevy in one and a 5.0 in the other.... just trying to get a general consensus. there was time when I really hated it, but now I really don't care as long as my cars are Chrysler powered. i'd be lying if I said it doesn't bother me at all

Sometimes I feel like a grumpy old man. I don't like different power plants in Mopars, just like I don't like Chevy motors in Ford street rods. I don't like those stupid big wheels either. Crabby old man? Possibly!

here here on the wheels, I personally cant stand those giant *** wheels probably more than the brand x powertrains. I know hot rodding was born putting X engine in X car , but if they want chevy power , buy a Camaro lol . maybe im just getting old

The early Hemi is the only powerplant that is allowed to be put in anything at all and be cool. Other than that, it's all a bunch of bullshit.

Well.....I will backtrack a little. Lessie........motors cool to swap. Early Hemi, Buick Nailhead, Flathead V8 Ford, Early Olds V8, Straight 8 Buick and maybe some of the early Chrysler Spitfire Poly motors. That's gettin close to about it. But even most of them aint cool to swap in a Mopar.

Oh and I don't care if it is a General Motors product. THIS in most anything would be totally shagnastaciousbadassary.

I don't have a problem with a little transmission, rear end or brake swapping between brands but I see no reason for anyone to go non Mopar in a Mopar vehicle when there are so many great early and late Chrysler family engines to chose from to satisfy any tastes or power requirements.

I know nothing about engine swaps, but I see no point in putting a non-Mopar engine in a Mopar. We got plenty of awesome engines to choose from.

I have heard of people putting a Ford 5.0 engine in a Volvo 240, which I think is a cool idea. Although putting a Hemi in a Volvo would be even cooler.

they get a little pissy around here if you put a 360 in an S10.... makes em scratch their head though :thinker:

really makes em mad when you tell them the reason you did it is cause you don't feel bad cutting up a Chebby or tell em there's more body parts in the junk yard for it :dontknow::fight:

Daffy New Update 002.jpgFor me personally when talking about engine swaps, keep it Marquee specific. That being said, I can see the GM side of putting Chevy engines in Hot Rods such as Ford Roadsters, etc. They are plentiful and cheap. That is why most that build those types of rides do so because it costs less than a MOPAR and some times Ford. I rarely see a Ford engine in a Chevy or a MOPAR. I did a few years back see a 53 Ford P/U and the Half Moon Bay Dream Machines event that had a MOPAR 392 Hemi which I thought was real trick. But for the most part keep things specific to the Marquee. Ford to Ford, GM to GM, and MOPAR to MOPAR when restoring or returning to running order. Hot Rodding is allowed in my opinion a free pass as that is what it is...Cobbling together available parts and drive trains to produce a running and operating Hot Rod or Racer/Rat Rod. Don't forget that Ford is a hell of a lot closer to our beloved MOPARS than one might think. What does frost my *** is when someone comes along and asks what engine, and I say 383, they immediately assume 350 Chevy Stroker. I politely correct them and say "No..It ain't a small block Chevy. It's a Big Block MOPAR". The dumb ones will ask "What's the Difference?" It is then I excuse myself and walk away...Dumb Asses!!!

no ducking way i would put a different make of motor in a MoPar!! it's sacrilegious!!

the MoPar Gods will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger!! :DMAGE:

My dream car is a brand X with a Mopar big block. Jensen Interceptor.

I'd love to buy a tweed jacket and take Miss Moneypenny for a spin in one of these...

Powered at first by a Chrysler 383 and later by a 440 V8. Earlier 383 cars with fewer emission controls are quite a bit faster than the 440 cars. All came fully equipped with amenities like automatic transmission, 8-track player, air conditioning, lamb’s wool seat inserts, polished walnut dash, Connolly leat and head rest pillows. All Interceptors were well-built and expensive, built for crossing Europe at high speeds.

exactly my thoughts, for the most part, but I'm also the guy who says "build it how you want it" too...

yeah what he said too...LOL....

cr8cshr hit the nail on the head. The reasons these guys put SB Chevies and Ford 5.0s into cars is they are a dime a dozen. That same 5.0 that went into every Mustang GT also went into most every Crown Victoria, lots of Thunderbirds, and a lot of other cars back then and they stuck 350s into everything.

I remember walking through the lanes of funny cars at races in Jacksonville, Washington, and Gainesville, and seeing Mustang after Mustang, and Camaro after Camaro. But when they lifted the bodies up, you saw nothing but Hemi, Hemi, Hemi, Hemi, Hemi, Hemi,...

That guy your quoting, sounds like statements Ken Herring always seems to make on the old Pinks All-Out or Pass-Time... I'm not a hater of any American brand, but they need to put a Ford In a Ford a Chevy In a Chevy, I have had race cars in my younger years like a 49 Ford T/S Business Coupe with 1st a FI 540ci Milidon BBC then Blown FI BBC, then a Blown FI 526ci & 540ci Milidon Mastodon Hemi.... also a AA/Altered 23 T "replica kinda" body on a F/C chassis with the same type engine combos as the 49 Ford, swapped the engine back & forth, then also a RB 426 base/491-496ci Max Wedge/w 4.25" stroker combo, Blown FI also.... so I guess I'm guilty of the improper engine swaps too....

The pics posted by the OP are just an eyesore. I'd say from the early 60's through the 70's don't do the swap. And that goes for putting a SBC in a 68 Firebird or a BBC in an Olds.

Rusty, I swear we went to the same school when it comes to what engine you can swap into what car! When I see a SBF in a Ford hot rod, and the owner is there, I thank them for not using a SBC in their 32 Ford. Likewise if I see a Yak or a nail head in an old Ford I also thank them for thinking outside the SBC box.

Nice pair of 305E's. Are those going into a Crosley? Speaking of Crosley, I'd like to come up with an application for my CIBA motor.
