Back when, my bank knew me by name and I could walk in and get a loan if needed....
"What do you need it for, Ed?"
"Need a tractor."
"Ok, send me over their sales sheet and we'll take care of it."
Same day even. It was that simple in those days....
Fred was obtained the same way - out of the hobby for some years and staring down some mortal as
hell medical shiyat, I decided I wanted "one last Mopar". I sold a project I would never have had the
wherewithal to do properly (a T/A) and went to the bank with a plan:
I wanted a budget established, then I'd go find the car.
They were fine with that and as usual, all they wanted was to see a bit of market evidence that the
money wouldn't be tossed down a black hole.
They trusted me...and the deal went down, including a budget loan for anticipated expenses for parts
and such to come.
Won't see that sort of thing these days. Hell, that bank chain sold out to some bigger one a couple states
over and then had the audacity to remove their local branch from our town all together, the asses - but Fred
was built on a combination of my own assets and a flexible loan.
A minor miracle, given the medical issues to come (well into six figures to keep my mangy *** alive at this
point) - and I'll never have that sort of relationship with a lending institution again.
