Ghaaahhhhhh....these guys should wear masks! Over $5000 for a swap to a 4 speed? Is this the going price?

I think i'll take this list to Bruce Cliches yard and see what I can knock off of it.

probably pretty close, it includes everything you need.

Yeah...
I know
I'm researching that too...
And yes...it is complete...

There is another option out there:
1. American Powertrain....
2. Passion Performance...

Tell em' you saw it in MCG

Unfortunately supply and demand often dictates pricing and overdrives are pretty popular right now. What 5 speed do they offer, Passon? I know pretty much all of the Tremec kits will run around $5,000 as well and I agree it's ridiculous.

if you go with Brewers ..you will get the correct components needed for the transition ....and the correct info.

X2. They know their stuff and sell quality products.

I'm not casting dispersions on them, I just thought it would be more like 2500 or so. Is there any way to mitigate that by getting your own parts on some of that? Or does that not work with their kit?

They should have provided a list of everything you need in the quote. That's what they did when I quoted them. All standard stuff, which you can get on your own and mix it in with items from them. It all depends on if you are ready to go and want it all done ....or if you have time. Finding all the right parts takes time......I know....I'm in the middle of doing it. I have time cause I'm still in body work phase, but it's not easy finding everything. And make sure you know what you need - it sounds easy, but there are so many details you can miss. I'm still looking for a 4spd trans crossmember which are hard to come by for the year I need. If you're ready to drop in the trans, I would drop the cash and enjoy the car sooner rather than wait a year or more scouring for parts.

I.m in the same place, welding in new panels, shaving off some stuff, making mods.... So yah, I have time. so I guess i'll reach out to some sources up here and see what all I can collect to bring down the cost. I can give you holler if I run across more than 1 4 speed crossmember. They did give me a list, which I guess is helpful. I mean, I have worked on manual trans stuff over the years so I have some skills but the particular needs of this year model are another thing. I think I can source most of it.

In 2010 it was around $3500 without a trans sooooo I had a trans rebuilt for $800 locally pretty close $4300 for parts not considering I would have had to change the crank in the block as well!!

Quality comes at a price. If you want quality and ease of installation....go with Brewer's. If you want a shoe-string budget job, start doing yard sales and scavenge through CL adverts....in about 10 years you might have found enough parts to cobble up a 4-speed setup....but at what cost. years of not having pleasure driving the car??

If they give you the list of parts, with determination, you can find them. But they won't come up and knock on your door. Some parts are hard to find and pricey unless you find someone that doesn't know what they are worth. If you want your clutch to work right, be sure that all parts are correct for your car. Especially the bell houseing, clutch fork clutch fork pivot, Z bar and its pivots. Been there-done that......................MO

That's awful! But a friend of mine has been looking at the tremec for his 65 vette, he's had them priced at $6,000. Like previously stated supply and demand and quality does come at a huge price. But from I hear, you won't be disappointed.

that's a standard 4 speed man, no overdrive

that is not a bad price. When I bought my tko500 tremec in 06 I paid $4600 for my kit and my car was already a 4spd so I did not need the pedals or any of the clutch pedal linkage. for that price I got the tranny, bellhousing, clutch and driveshaft.

Well like I said, I'm not knocking their quality or service, I was just surprised. I think I will very likely buy some of the items from them but I doubt that I'll need 100% of the kit. I'll see how it goes between now and when I absolutely have to make a decision on the tranny. I do have a perfectly good 727. Worst case scenario is that I'll have to run that while I save up and stock up on what I need to switch over. Thanks everyone for chiming in on this, and the support you all give this outfit via testimonials shows me that they are legit and that they would be a great source for this issue. Thanks.

This is good info for me I guess. It won't be new from Brewers but I'll be able to sell my complete 4 speed set-up (everything except my pedals) once I get my T-56 in.

Gee
I spent $5K for my heads on the Hemi...
It "aint a cheap hobby" anymore...
