:angryfire: Went for a ride Tuesday night and had the chance to try WOT on a nice 2 lane concrete highway. At the top of 2nd just when I clicked high gear I heard and felt a major BOOM under my feet .Clicked the key off and watched out the rearview mirror expecting see all kinda parts trailing me.Rolled to the side of the road and looked under the car to see everything in place and nothing leaking so I restarted the engine and went through the gears, but nothing happened
After I got a ride to get my flatbed, towed it back to my shop, put it up on jackstands and pulled the pan to find NOTHING but clean fluid
Pulled the unit out last night and called it a day.Went and pulled the trans apart last night and found a broken retainer hub on the back of the input shaft.
I see a new heavy duty maybe billit replacement in my future.
Who should I get a new one from?TCS,Cope,,,,,or???

talk with john over at cope.he really does know his **** with these trans and should be able to hook you up with what you need.i have never had any of his stuff break in my race or street cars.

Sounds like you dodged a big bullet! Do you have shield on that? That could have been a lot worse! Can you say no foot? Especially with the power your putting out with a blown motor. A shield is a cheap safety part! Have you seen a 727 come apart and the damage it can do? Just a suggestion.

i think that ham-fist had something to do with it!! :fart:

I hate to say it, but Bigal is right. The 400 is way cheaper to build to withstand that power level. Do the math.....literally. You'll see.

A&A - Builds some bulletproof trans.

Always heard good stuff about A&A any other thoughts on the vs the TH400?

I have a B&M 727 trans I was thinking of putting in my 68 R/T .. it was in another 68 R/T I bought in the late 80's and had/has very few miles on it. Interested in any thoughts on those and what sitting for 20 years may have done to it or what may need to be done to it before putting in.

Went back to TCS where I bought a billit drum from. This it the one>>>>>>> http://www.tcsproducts.com/products/product/17/

I'll have it tuesday and will go to my trans guy tuesday night and he'll do it while I wait.I've done this a few times:tongue5:

Somebody kick this guy off FBBO

Been to a drag strip lately? You won't believe the non GM cars that run the lowly 'powerglide'. We used to call them "slush boxes". They've come a long way, baby...

yep allot more Powerglide's than TH400's or TF727's

saying a glide is a gm product is like saying a 9 inch rear is a ford.they may have come up with the originals but very few of the ones being raced have anything to do with the originals.all custom parts to say the least.
