Broke my 7UP Pop Machine today....(Superbird Restoration)

Now how did I miss all this drama? It could be that the thread is 47 pages long, and all I have to go online is my tiny little phone. My stomach dropped when I saw the pic of that door, and even more so when I saw Wayne’s arm. Not to mention the pop machine. It hurt just to see it all, but as I would expect, Wayne has it well at hand!

Yes, I'm wondering how you missed it all as well. It's all everyone was talking about for a few months. The pain, the joy, the insurance hassles, the 'better-than-new' remake...it almost got turned into a documentary TV special, which would have been called "Matching Yellow".
:)

It’s hard for me to find time to go through the many threads here, although I enjoy everything I read here. It’s even harder to do a thread that’s 47 pages long, or threads like the “stop in for a cup of coffee”thst is about 1500 pages. If I post in a long thread, it takes me forever to catch up after even one day, and since my eyesight is not so good, reading this little screen is tough.

THANKS Roger for the sticky! Lots of detail in here for any B body refurbishment, ya just have to strain out the background "noise" LOL !

Finally off to Adco Tire, before the Spring tire change has them swamped.

Rims in the cab, or what's left of my space !

"Just leave'm outside the door". Dan f'n with me and my original rims and $3400 cdn worth of tires. He was peaking out the overhead door as I unloaded.. bastage!

2 hours later.. Balanced up pretty good. 1.5oz outer and 1.75 inner on most. The rim I straightened out took 4oz outer and 3 inner. Wish he'd played with the tire some more as I had him run the rim before I left and it only needed an ounce!

Reproduction wheel centers.

Friggin metric hardware.

Bolt head ring had to be ground off of every bolt, otherwise they sat proud of the wheels mounting rings.

Had to grind about 3/16" off every bolt, as they bottomed out before the insert was tight on the wheel.

Pretty nice reflection, considering they are brushed rings..

I'd say tomorrows work, but I need to get going on three corporate tax returns due at months end..

I'm surprised you don't have a tire machine....even the ones from the 60's work pretty well with the 'old school' rims and will work in a pinch with the more modern wheels. The biggest mistake I've made in the last 10 years was selling mine when the X left and I started selling off stuff and the tire machine was the first to go. For some reason I kept the bubble balancer though lol. It works well on the more narrow tires but no, it's not the best to use because it doesn't see couple imbalance.

Thought about it MANY times Dave, but for 80 bucks cdn to remove the old tires back in the Fall, mount the new ones, correct length valve stems, a pound of weights... I couldn't be bothered to have a tire machine and balance machine stealing floor space.

I built a skid that sits out under the carport out back of the shop for my tube bender (that has never been used) and tire machine. The tire machine was bolted to it mostly and it was more or less out of the way. The bubble balancer lives in the storage building I mean enclosed trailer and was brought into the shop whenever it was needed. The tire machine was nice to have because if I needed it right now, I didn't have to bother with going to any area shops and wait or drive back when it/they were ready. Seems like there was way too many times that tires were being swapped for whatever reason....and liked having the skid so it could be dragged to where ever it was needed. Could even winch it onto my flatbed trailer if need be.
