Broke my 7UP Pop Machine today....

Front arm rests and backing plates.
20240405_144432.jpg

Alcohol to clean up the chrome and scubbing bubbles for the vinyl arm rests.
20240405_145414.jpg

Passenger side installed, along with crank handle and door release handle.
20240405_151618.jpg

Drivers side done.
20240405_151712.jpg

My trade secret for cleaning grained panels and vinyl tops. Scubbing bubbles and a plastic upholstrey cleaner can brush.
20240405_153423.jpg

Quick spray and wipe with detailer wax.
20240405_154734.jpg

Gluing the insulation onto the kick panels. It just makes life easier...
20240405_155229.jpg

Passenger side kick panel installed after running the new antenna cable up to the radio. Note the near mint original heater box and part # stamp. Not reconditioned... original !
20240405_162346.jpg

Drivers side in. Guess I need to clean that grease pencil off the hinge mount area.

OE sill plates are pretty good, but she deserves new ones

Like everything else reproduction, never an install "as bought" item.
20240405_164102.jpg

A bit of trimming to a more correct shape.

Passenger sill plate installed.

Guess it's time for some dish soap and water to remove Jake's wax job and to float some decals into place.

How's the metal thickness of the repo sill plates compared to OE?

These are the good ones, identical. Only issue with them is the over size that needs trimming and the over the windlace profile isn't quite right but you can make it work with some persuasion !

Two small birds...
20240406_115246.jpg

One goes 3/8" from trunk edge.. so mark and cut.
20240406_115618.jpg

Area de-waxed and cleaned with alcohol. Sprayed with soapy water and squeegied into place.

The other on the passenger door interior.

30 year old NOS wing upright decals from my good friend Jerry Hall in Alabama
20240406_132703.jpg

NOS vs reproduction. Not keene on Mike Mancini's choice of soft clear vinyl as the carrier backing on the repro.
20240406_133545.jpg

Reproductions. I also have two sets of NOS Plymouth decals (one I had and another courtesy of Moparsaver!) and a set of 34 year old reproduction nose decals to bail me out if need be
20240406_133609.jpg

Original door and VIN decal.
20240406_140243.jpg

New VIN decal.
20240406_140303.jpg

Placement as close as I can duplicate.

She has an identity again.

Tire pressure decal.
20240406_143537.jpg

Took almost 3 hours for the glue to set up before I could peel the carrier paper.

Roadrunner Superbird...
20240406_150111.jpg

Nose jack instructions in. Still haven't been able to obtain a bumper jack decal.

Good work ................ except .............

You've got to get the yellow paint off those two 1/4" nuts (the ones with the captive washer).

Nope... not a hope in hell I'm touching those ever again. 46 hours alone to make that POS AMD door work and get the top of the vent frame to actually touch the roof rail seal.

Looks like the door hinge bolts need some touching up anyway, but I won't tell.

By the time you finally got to the shop I'd already been to the shop, I'd accomplished what I needed to get done & I'd gone back home... Where I'm sitting in my chair like a lazy POS...

Got my Bird out to meet Dawn this morning. What a wax stripper she is. Wax was on... wax is off. Still tempting to leave the decals off..
