Budget paint (Summit etc) how does it hold up ?

Bought some Summit Bronze single-stage for the Coronet 500 trunk pan replacement, but haven't used it yet.
Hope to get that done this summer. Not sure the shelf life of the paint/activator?
The Bronze says to use a black primer/undercoat.

I have used Kirker single stage several times... the Pete I painted in 2005 still.looks great.

Shoot many spray out cards for color matching, match it in many different lights too. You’ll have to match the color, tint and fade... that can be tough. Good luck.
I’m doing body work on my 68 Sport Satellite. I’ve always been a DuPont fan but after 15 years my Ram peeled the clear off, recently. It was DuPont all the way thru but an outside vehicle with no sun protection. I think the UV kills most clears. I may consider the newest version of what we know of as Imron. It seems to hold up well on big trucks. Then again I keep thinking if I went single stage it won’t peel like my truck. The car will last I’ll bet as it’s going to be garaged.

Diehard PPG user for 30+ years but I finally decide it`s too expensive and have started trying Tamco products and so far impressed, I`ve tried thier high build primer on a motorcycle tank and got a sample of FC7 to check color match for my road runner. A lot of people, both hobbyists and pros, highly recommend thier products so I am going to use them for the rest of my road runner primer and paint needs. The are a family run business with good tech support and a Facebook group for info and help as well, quality product but much less expensive than PPG.

Do spray outs as mentioned with different base colors. When I painted my yellow car, the paint is somewhat translucent. I used a base/clear (PPG Chroma Base/Clear) and I think the base took 2 or 3 coats.

Base color should only matter on candies and similar paints, almost all factory colors are NOT translucent so base primer shade or color should not matter - if it shows thru then you didn`t put enough coats on.

Chroma base was a DuPont product now Xalta.
