Bullitt Charger R/T revisited!

The Doris Day Show often featured Chargers in the show. Doris was a real Mopar Girl, and supposedly owned the 72 Charger with the sunroof for many years after it was shown on her show.

The camera car was at Springfling some years back. Maybe a CPW Member on the forum has a picture

@chargervert , what's the scoop with rocker moldings and second gens.. were they just a random option at that point?

I used to think that they were part of the SE package, but could be ordered on other Chargers, but the people on Dodge Charger.com told me that I was incorrect about them being included in the package. Most Chargers with the SE package seem to have them. My moms Charger R/T SE had them, and every SE car I ever had also had them. I have had about ten of them.

They did a nice job with the restoration, and seeing the pictures of the layers of paint, and the locations of the holes matching up to where all the camera equipment was mounted,I believe this to be the legit car from the movie Bullitt

This 70 Charger was destroyed in the 1978 movie Stranger in our house. The scene starts out with them driving a 68 Charger, but this 70 Charger with the front bumper painted to look like the 68 Charger was the car that was destroyed eventually forced off the road to it's demise by the T bird driver.

Mannix drove this base model XH stripped down 70 Charger in one episode where Mannix was forced off the road and the car went down the embankment and exploded, but they blew up a 68 plymouth instead of the Charger!

This bronze 69 Charger R/T SE was used in a few episodes of Mannix. A criminal trying to take out Mannix places a dynamite bomb under the hood wired to go off when the coil powers up,you can see the 440 Magnum engine when Mannix discovers the bomb. The car does not get blown up. The car appears to have the spare tire on the right rear,as the magnum wheel is missing.

This Charger Daytona clone in the movie Joe Dirt also survives filming, altough the knocked the obviously unbolted wing off the car in one scene! The top picture is a model, the other is the real car.

These three Chargers were destroyed just sitting on the dealership lot in 1969!

Bullitt was the first movie to destroy a second generation Charger on the big screen, the villains sinister black Charger R/T made such an impact on the audience that the Charger became the number one choice of getaway car for Hollywood!

"What goosed him all of a sudden?" ...says one cop to the other - Movie is called "80 steps to Jonah" starring Wayne Newton.

The guy driving the '69 Charger had stolen it, and shortly after picking up the hitch-hiker (Wayne Newton), the Charger appears to be crushed while rolling down a hill. But due to either budget restraints, or poor continuity and a desire to not scuff the brand new '69 Charger, the car that gets wrecked manages to age at least 2 years...possibly 3.

I saw the Joe Dirt car at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona some years back. Whoever owned it at the time was certainly enjoying it!
