I have a 68 coronet. It's in " paint jail " right now. I am considering having my painter paint the tail stripe as opposed to vinyl. I found a diagram with the exact dimensions of the 4 separate stripe lines. But nothing showing the exact location on the car. From pics it appears to be about an inch in front of the rear side marker light. Does anyone have more specific measurements ? Or something to go by ? Thanks guys.

Just make sure he doesn't put it on backwards ! Previous owner of my 68 had this stripe put on, it makes me sick to look at it but I got no choice unless I want to do paint work after removing the stripe .....

Oh, what a bummer. But i don't see the need for pai t work. I have removef nynil lettering from my work van in the past. Without harming the paint. The company that installed it told me how. A heat gun loosens it. Then simply peel it off. And use gas or paint thinner to remove the residual adhesive. I did this on cheap enamel paint. No problems.

Interesting, wish I had the nuts to try it ! It's over a shitty repaint, I can just imagine what'll peel off with the decal ! I would love to remove it and correct it though ....

I just realised i may have mis spoke. When you say it was " put" on. Was it paint or vinyl ?

Maaco did a $350 job. Then i had it lettered. It did have the word, FREE , in 6 inch letters above video inspection on the doors.

at one time in the past I had posted some info on the measurements

Mine not painted yet, you have good timing. 3/4" from marker edge.

I'd get the vinyl, it'll be the right color, cut correctly, cheaper, plus, if it's put on wrong, you can immediately peel it off. If they screw it up. Paint won't be the right color, you could end up with paint bleed from under the masking tape, plus, once it's on, whether it's right or wrong, that's it.
